Fujifilm Russia X-T4 Postponed Until May 2020 and Price Adjustment

Fujifilm Russia is warning of a Fujifilm X-T4 delay and possible price adjustment due to currency issues. This announcement is likely limited to Russia at this time because it isn’t showing up elsewhere yet. The Fujifilm X-T4 already a little overpriced in the US so I doubt we will see any upward price adjustment here, but if we do retailers will likely honor the original price for preorders.

It might be a good idea to order and X-T4 if you think the camera is already expensive enough. You can always cancel before launch if no price adjustment occurs and you are still on the fence.

Important information about the FUJIFILM X-T4
The official start of sales of the FUJIFILM X-T4 camera is postponed to a later date, from April 2020 to May 2020.
Due to the sharply increased volatility in the foreign exchange market, by the time sales of the FUJIFILM X-T4 camera start, it is possible to revise previously announced recommended retail prices. – Fujifilm Russia (Via Google Translate)

FujiGuys: Fujifilm X-T4 and Grip Unboxing Plus X-T3 vs X-T4 Launch Comparison

The Fuji Guys unboxed the Fujifilm X-T4 that will be coming later next month.

  • Two QR codes on the box when you open it one for the X-T4 manual and one for the camera remote program
  • Capture on pamphlet and warranty info on the top
  • Followed by the camera with the eyelets for the camera strap already attached to the camera
  • The inner box is below the camera with the padded strap, USB-C cable, USB-C 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C 5v 3A 15 Watt charging block with adapter, and new W235 battery
  • Fujifilm suggests you get a second battery
  • Then they unbox the VG-XT4 grip and it does not include any batteries unfortunately
  • The VG-XT4 allows you to add 2 batteries to your X-T4 and has a shutter lock etc… like the old one, but one nice update is that a USB-C cable can be used to charge all 3 batteries, whereas previously the grip charger would only charge the two batteries in the grip and not the one in the body.
  • Finally, they suggest the BC-W235 to charge two batteries at once

This is all pretty standard stuff, but it would have been nice for them to include a single battery charger in the box in addition to including batteries with the grip since Fujifilm has had various bundles with batteries that made the total package more affordable. This price increase seems like an unforced error considering the X-T3 went down substantially in price from the X-T2 and the X-H1 has been a steal.

For Comparison
Fujifilm X-T4 + Grip + Batteries x2 + Charger at launch = $2237.97
Fujifilm X-T3 + Grip + Batteries and Charger included at launch = $1,830.76
Fujifilm X-T2 + Grip + Batteries and Charger included at launch = $2067.98

X-T3/X-T4 Launch different $407.12

X-T3/X-T4 Today’s different depending on the sale $810.02

X-T2/X-T4 Launch difference $169.99

I have a feeling the X-T4 launch sales will be on the soft side until Fujifilm announced a bundle when production can ramp up, which will hopefully come sooner rather than later because the X-T4 isn’t a huge step up over the X-T3. Don’t get me wrong I am excited to get mine at launch, but I have a feeling this will be like the GFX50S launch where prices and bundles dropped substantially shortly after launch so stay tuned.

Fujifilm Statement Following The Postponement of The Photography Show

Official Statement – Exhibitors
Important update – The Photography Show & The Video Show has been postponed until September

To date, The Photography Show & The Video Show has been following Government guidelines regarding the continuation of our event surrounding the outbreak of Coronavirus. However, as the news has been progressing we have listened to the concerns from all parties, around running the show in the current environment.

The wellbeing of our visitors, exhibitors, speakers and staff is of the utmost importance, we have therefore taken the extremely difficult decision to postpone. We are truly sorry and hope you understand that we have had no choice but to take this difficult decision, we appreciate that this will have a huge knock on effect for everyone concerned. We are now working through the ramifications of this unprecedented situation.

Please bear with us while we try to establish new dates. We will be in touch with all our exhibitors as soon as we have more information.

Message from The Photography Show, Head of Events;

‘We are incredibly disappointed that we’ve had to take this action so close to the event opening. However, it became clear that the recent acceleration in Covid19 cases in the UK has led to heightened concerns for all participants and the show would be negatively impacted from all perspectives should we have proceeded. We understand how important the show is both from an industry and community point of view so we are pleased that we are able to postpone to September when we are hopeful that the threat of Covid19 will have significantly rescinded. Please bear with us while we make all the necessary arrangements to facilitate this move and contact all participants’.

Fujifilm statement following the postponement of The Photography Show, 14-17 March 2020
Following confirmation by Future Plc that The Photography Show, due to take place on 14 – 17 March 2020 at the Birmingham NEC, has been postponed, Fujifilm UK has published the following statement.

“The coronavirus epidemic is a unique situation – and from both a staff and an audience perspective, the decision to postpone The Photography Show is the most responsible decision and one that we fully support. Through this evolving situation, the health of Fujifilm employees, partners and customers is our primary concern.”

“While we understand that the photography community will be disappointed, we have been developing our contingency plan for several weeks and we look forward to bringing all of the elements of The Photography Show experience to life over the coming weeks, the schedule of which will be announced shortly.”

Jinbei TR-Q7 Multi Brand Canon/Nikon/Sony/Fuji/Panasonic/Olympus TTL Trigger

Jinbei released a multi-brand trigger last year, that was missed, which supports Fujifilm cameras the Jinbei TR-Q7, which you can now find on Amazon. This is a very interesting trigger that even allows photographers to mix and match lights and triggers, but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of guidance about how to get it all working smoothly.

The video below shows a Jinbei and Canon RT flash being mixed together, which could lead to some interesting combos, that might not support TTL or 1/8000 flash sync, but being able to work outside of their wireless system could be helpful. If you want everything to work smoothly and as advertised it’s probably best to just select some Jinbei lights to go with the trigger though.

Best Entry Level Mirrorless: Fujifilm X-T200, Sony a6100, Canon EOS M50 Compared

Last time DPRTV posted a best entry-level mirrorless comparison the Fujifilm X-T100 won the majority of categories but lost the overall category. Things have changed this generation and now Fujifilm wins overall in addition to the majority of categories. You can see a summary of the above video below:

Handling

  1. Canon EOS M50 – feels like a nice quality camera and has the best grip
  2. Fujifilm X-T200 – cheap toy-like effect in your hand and should have an AF on button
  3. Sony a6100 – Same old design and it needs to be improved

Displays

  1. Fujifilm X-T200 – Similar EVF to Canon, but fully articulating 16×9 aspect ratio screen is nice
  2. Canon EOS M50 – best EVF and fully articulating screen
  3. Sony a6100 – low resolution and needs a fully articulating screen

Image Quality

  1. Fujifilm X-T200 – easy win even though not the 26MP sensor in their new cameras and they have the best rolling shutter and JPEG
  2. Sony a6100 – Newer sensor than EOS M50 but still rolling shutter issues
  3. Canon EOS M50 – Oldest of the 3 sensors with a slow scan rate

Autofocus

  1. Sony a6100 – Everyone is trying to emulate Sony AF and you get pro-AF in an entry-level camera
  2. Canon EOS M50 – older dual pixel AF system, but very sticky
  3. Fujifilm X-T200 – should be fine for most subjects, but also has a small buffer

Video

  1. Fujifilm X-T200 – 16×9 flippy screen perfect for video recording, but you also get a 3.5 mic jack and USB-C to monitor with
  2. Sony a6100 – very useable 4k and the best AF of the three, but rolling shutter can be an issue and accessories don’t fit well
  3. Canon EOS M50 – good AF, but 4k has a huge crop and you lose dual-pixel AF

Lenses

  1. Fujifilm X-T200 – Best lenses and most available, but not a lot of the third party since Fujifilm makes some kit lenses better than other professional lenses.
  2. Canon EOS M50 – Lots of affordable lenses, but not high quality or third party
  3. Sony a6100 – Lots of great third party lenses and full-frame lenses from Sony, but not many good and affordable lenses.

Overall – there really are no losers

  1. Fujifilm X-T200 – With the X-T100 there were too many issues to give it the win last time, but the problems with X-T100 have been fixed with the X-T200 so it is now their top pick with the most wins from a quality camera and system
  2. Canon EOS M50 – If you’re an entry-level photographer that is going to keep things simple this camera makes sense
  3. Sony a6100 – The AF sells Sony entry-level cameras, but that’s about all you get
