VILTROX 23mm f/1.4 Review – Does It Live Up To The Viltrox 85mm f/1.8?

Viltrox surprised photographers with the quality of their 85mm f/1.8. Now many wonder if Viltrox’s newly released lenses can follow it up with a similar level of performance for the price. Below is a summary of the above video for the Viltrox 23mm f/1.4:

  • Clickless aperture moves very freely with a bit of a click at f/16 and a hard stop at f/1.4
  • Metal lens hood
  • Metal lens mount
  • 11 elements in 10 groups with 2 ED elements
  • 30cm min focus distance
  • STM focus motor
  • Nice lens for video
  • 52mm filter thread
  • 262g
  • Feels solid and well built
  • Well dampened focus ring
  • Feels solid in use, but the aperture ring is a little too loose
  • Easy to get decent results wide open
  • Vignetting that is a bit dated looking
  • The lens is sharp with nice colors and a little swirl to the bokeh
  • Not for the pixel peeper
  • Not an ideal focal length for shooting yourself, but not bad
  • There is some focus breathing
  • AF is good and focus tracking with video is quite good
  • Video focus is pretty smooth
  • A lot of the video in the review was shot on the camera

Viltrox has some great value lenses and they have now announced that the VILTROX 85mm f/1.8 AF II is coming along with a VILTROX 13mm f/1.4 designed for APSC. These lenses should be interesting especially since the VILTROX 85mm f/1.8 AF is healed in high regard and come at a very affordable price point and yes I realized the AF 85mm ad is for the Sony edition, but the mark II 85mm for X Mount is on the roadmap.

Fujifilm X-T4 Shipping From US Retailers May 11th Body Only and June 1st With Kit Lens

The Fujifilm X-T4 was originally supposed to ship at the end of April, which then became Black Coming April 28, and Silver May. Now US retailers are listing the shipment dates of both Black and Silver bodies as May 11th and with a kit lens June 1st.

There have been some reports of X-T4 shipping, but not many and the majority have been international so it looks like we are in for a very slow rollout of the Fujifilm X-T4 so make sure to get in line if you want a camera anytime soon.
