Fujifilm Announces The GFX Disposable 645 Program

The continued success of the Fujifilm GFX lineup of cameras is bleeding over into Fujifilm’s film offerings with the announcement of the GFX 645 disposable camera. The GFX disposable will come with a 60mm f/4 lens and 25 frames of 400H 1600 ISO 645 film inside. If the program is popular Fujifilm will also offer ACROS 645 inside as an option for $6.45 more.

The GFX disposable will have a unique development process requiring a security deposit upon ordering the camera directly from Fujifilm, which you will receive back when the camera is sent in for development. The $100 deposit is fully refundable and accompanies a charge of $41.21 that covers the film and development process. The idea behind the product and program is to provide the masses with access to medium format cameras, so Fujifilm intends to not only send users of the program back their negatives, but Fujifilm will also scan them at 102MP to encourage the purchase of a GFX100/GFX100S camera.

Fujifilm hopes the program will accelerate the transition of DSLR photographers to the Fujifilm GFX platform and will offer the camera for at least one year.

“AUTO POWER OFF TEMP.” option is added in the “POWER MANAGEMENT” menu.

* When the firmware is upgraded from ver.1.10 or Ver.1.11, “HIGH” mode in the POWER MANAGEMENT” menu is selected. We would recommend use of a tripod because the temperature of a part of a camera body can become hot although the shooting time becomes longer.
If you take a movie continuously on hand, we would recommend you set the “AUTO POWER OFF TEMP.” to “STANDARD” although the shooting time becomes shorter.
*Resetting the SETUP menu makes the “AUTO POWER OFF TEMP.” option changed to the “STANDARD” mode. If you want to take a movie longer, change the setting to the HIGH” mode.

Display of “IP ADDRESS” in Setup Menus > CONNECTION SETTING > INFORMATION is added.

Improvement of shutter speed setting for TTL slow sync flash shooting

In P and A mode, this firmware makes the slowest shutter speed slower than 1/8 sec. for the shooting used in a scene where relatively long exposure is required (ex. a flash shooting with night view background). In case the shutter speed setting is AUTO, the shutter speed becomes max. 4 sec in P mode and max. 30 sec. in A mode.

Fix of minor bugs.

Fujifilm Quick Snap 800 Returns and Imminent Film Price Increase Leaked

Fujifilm seems to be trying to keep its film division going and is actually starting to see signs that generation Z is interested in film, but the reduced production is now leading to price increases. Kosmofoto published an article today about film price increases coming on April 1st:

Fujifilm is increasing the price of its films on Thursday (1 April), with the biggest price increase appearing to hit one of its most popular consumer films.

The price of Fujicolor C200 is rising by more than 40% in the UK, according to a distributor’s email seen by Kosmo Foto.

The email shows the dealer price for a roll of C200 rising from £3.18 to £4.55 – an increase of 43%.

Superia X-Tra 400, meanwhile, is rising some 17%, with a single roll now costing dealers £6.19.

There is better news, however, for those shooting Fujifilm’s remaining roster of professional films – these are only rising by around 2%.

So stock up on Fujicolor C200 and Superia X-Tra 400. Fujifilm also rereleased the Fujifilm QuickSnap Waterproof 800, which you can pick up on Amazon.
