While other Fujifilm sites are trying to sell you competing cameras we are are still focused on Fujifilm and man did some jaw dropping images get released by Williamchua using the Fujinon GF 110mm F 2 R LM WR today. The above crop of a crop is pretty crazy and shows the resolving power of the Fujifilm GFX 50S and Fujinon GF 110mm F 2 R LM WR. I can’t wait to try this lens.

Fujifilm X-T2 Who Needs Canon/Nikon and X-T2 vs Nikon D810

Lots of Nikon users are jumping ship form Fujifilm cameras and many are not disappointed. Finding Middle Earth is a channel run by one such user and he produces some really useful content that is worth a look sometimes. You can download his sample images here if you’re interested.

Markus Klinko’s Fujifilm GFX 50S Rig and Bowie Unseen Australian Gallery Opening

Fellow Fujifilm GFX 50S shooter Markus Klinko sent me some photos of his new GFX rig along with his Bowie Unseen announcement, which is opening in Australia. FujiAddict covered the Miami opening and it was a great exhibit that is not to be missed. The event is sponsored by Fujifilm and the prints are spectacularly sharp. I hope he does a similar shows in the future utilizing some of his GFX work.

I am sure Markus is producing some interesting work with the Elinchrom ELB 400. He says the Quadra Action head that he’s utilizing only weighs 10oz and is extremely powerful, while being lighter than most basic on camera flashes. He is also utilizing a variety of accessories from hard + spotted with grid to super soft with the Portalite 56.

RoboSHOOTplus version 2.1 Released!

RoboSHOOTplus version 2.1 Released!
We are pleased announce version 2.1 of RoboSHOOTplus. It is available NOW for MX-20 and MX-15 upgrades! This version adds Studio Strobe and additional flash support, High performance with CH/CL manual mode, In-Camera Control improvements, and more. Also, by virtue of expanded Nikon speedlight compatibility, this release enables Nikon support even on the lower cost ‘X-15 units. As a result, the MX-20 and MX-15 make great companions, since, with that combination you can upgrade both over-the-air!

The most important new features include:

  • Studio Strobe Support with AutoFP/HSS
    • Profoto AirTTL-N – AutoFP/HSS with both TTL and Manual control depending on head unit.
    • Godox X1N – AutoFP/HSS with both TTL and Manual control.
    • Flashpoint R2N – AutoFP/HSS with both TTL and Manual control
    • Phottix Odin II – AutoFP/HSS with Manual control
    • Quantum CoPilot – TTL and Manual
    • Studio Strobes controllers are supported on the MX unit (On-Camera) only.
      • The Strobe Controller defaults to group D (configurable). Power can be adjusted on the controller or to adjust power in-camera it can be set to Group A, B, or C.
      • When using Manual Control setting power in the Strobe Controller is recommended for best results and highest FPS performance.
      • Strobe Controller Groups can be used to adjust multiple strobes at the camera, independently.
      • Supports In-Camera Flash Exposure Compensation and other functions.
      • RX units may be used for speedlights in combination with Studio Strobes.
      • Please be sure to use the latest firmware for your strobes and controllers.
  • Expanded Speedlight Support
    • Nikon SB-800, SB-5000
    • Godox V860ii-N, AD360ii-N
    • See compatibility tables for more – many additional speedlights will function beyond what is listed in these tables.
  • Nikon Support on all unit types.
    • ‘X-15 units manufactured after March 2016 supported (and some earlier).
  • High Performance CH/CL in excess of 8FPS
    • Higher performance requires Manual Exposure to suppress preflashes
    • Results depend on flash power / recycle times, flash may weaken or not fire if insufficient charge to keep up.
  • In-Camera Control Improvements
    • Improved Manual Power Control
    • Improved Shutter Mash support
  • Enhancements
    • Improved EF-X500 detection
    • On-Camera flash manual power setting issue fixed
    • RX Group indication even with flash not present

Like all updates version 2.1 is available at no cost for self-installation. We also offer an upgrade service for an upgrade service fee of $20 plus shipping.

To get the upgrade follow the usual Upgrade Procedure. If upgrading from 1.x (RoboSHOOT, not RoboSHOOTplus) first obtain the new App.

Lewis Does Landscapes And Additional Fujinon GF 110mm F 2 R LM WR/GF 23mm F 4 R LM WR Launch Coverage

Lewis Von John and two other photographers shoot landscapes with the Fujifilm GFX 50S, Fujifilm X-T2, Canon 1DX and Canon 7D. In the above video Lewis explains how to use a sekonic light meter and there is a pretty clear comparison of how these different cameras render a similar scene. The Lake District Wrynose Pass, Waswater and Ullswater, where this video was shot look like an excellent place to shoot landscapes and I would love to visit it someday.

Fujifilm also realeased more Fujinon GF 110mm F 2 R LM WR and GF 23mm F 4 R LM WR videos on their global channel. With how difficult it can be to demonstrate the advantages of medium format on the web you think Fujifilm might focus a little less on video for GFX product launches.

FujiAddict Live Blog Wrap-up

I have been awake for almost 48-hours and live blogging for almost 24-hours. Now that things have slowed to a crawl and I have had time to read and watch everything I think it’s time for a wrap-up.

  • The Fujifilm GFX lens release schedule isn’t as aggressive as rumored, but it’s promising.
  • The GFX has a Telephoto Prime coming in 2018 along with a teleconverter and the GF 45mm f2.8 R WR is coming before the end of 2017.
  • Firmware 1.10 for the GFX is coming this Spring. It adds computer tethering via Wi-Fi and improved operability in exposure compensation and autofocus performance in difficult scenes.
  • Instax SQ10 is the only Instax Square camera at this time and ship May 8th for $279.95 and film will costs $16.99.
  • Instax SQ10 can store 1920×1920 JPG + CSV files (taken with a 1/4 sensor) on a microSD card or 50 internally for printing later and uses a Li-ion battery that lasts for 160 shots.
  • Instax SQ10 has filters in the camera that you can apply to your images before printing.
  • The FUJINON LENS GF23mmF4 R LM WR weighs 845g and has a filter size of 82mm.
  • While the videos show a lot of examples of how the GF 23mm f4 R LM WR can be use there aren’t many samples from this lens yet.
  • The FUJINON LENS GF110mmF2 R LM WR weighs 1,010g and has a filter size of 77mm.
  • The GF 110 f2 R LM WR was the most covered lens with many samples to be examined. The GF 110 seems to render skin tones in a more forgiving way than the Fujinon GF 120 f4 R LM OIS WR Macro, but some reviews said they would want to own both.
  • You can compare the sizes of the new lenses already.
  • A new eye cup (EC-GFX) will be sold for the GFX that will better block out light.
  • The View Camera Adapter for the GFX will begin shipping in June.
