Overview of The Fujifilm Exhibition at Photokina 2018

Overview of the Fujifilm Exhibition at Photokina 2018
PHOTOKINA 2018, COLOGNE, GERMANY, September 26, 2018— FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Kenji Sukeno) is pleased to announce that it will be presenting an exhibition at Photokina 2018, the world’s leading trade fair for the photographic and imaging industries, which is being held in Cologne, Germany from September 26 to 29. Fujifilm’s corporate slogan “Value form Innovation” will also serve as this year’s exhibition slogan, and the company will be showcasing a wide range of value-added products and solutions created through the use of innovative technologies. The products and solutions on display encompass the entire spectrum of still and motion images – from input to output.

The Fujifilm booth will feature a Touch & Try corner where visitors will be able to try out our X Series and GFX Series digital cameras and all 38 interchangeable lenses, and an impressive gallery adorned with silver halide prints of images captured by X-Photographers. A special talk event will also be held with internationally renowned photographers discussing their various works and the attractions of Fujifilm’s digital cameras. In addition, this year we are marking the 20th anniversary of our instax cameras, and to celebrate the occasion Taylor Swift – one of the world’s leading recording artists – has teamed up with Fujifilm to become the company’s global instax partner. The Fujifilm booth will feature an instax Touch & Try corner, and a corner exhibiting every single model released over the 20-year history of instax cameras and see for themselves the reason instax have become so popular around the world. Also on display will be a variety of products and services that only a company with the vast expertise and experience of Fujifilm is able to offer – these include reference exhibitions of new technologies that realize new ways of enjoying photos and other images, and the wide range of benefits and fun to be had with the ever-expanding Wonder Photo Shop. We look forward to seeing you all at the Fujifilm booth.

Fujifilm Exhibition Outline
This year’s exhibition will be divided into the Digital Camera Area and the Photo Imaging Area, both of which will feature a wide range of new products and services. Read More »

Photons to Photos: Fujifilm XT2/GFX 50S vs Canon EOS R vs Nikon Z7 vs Sony a7RIII

Photons to Photos added the Canon EOS R and Nikon Z7 to their signal to noise ratio database. You can manipulate the data here and it’s interesting how well the Fujifilm X-T2 keeps up with the new generation of cameras along with the Fujifilm GFX 50S. The Nikon and Canon data is based on pre-production cameras and might improve later so stay tuned to see how they stack up and how the future Fujifilm X-T3 will compare.

Fujifilm X-T3 Roundup: Hands-on, AF Testing, 11/20/30 FPS and More

The reception for the Fujifilm X-T3 has been overwhelmingly positive outside of Fujifilm not replacing their dated battery. The X-T3 should be a huge hit among photographers and videographers alike offering more value than any other camera available today in a photographer friendly package.

It’s interesting to note that many bloggers/vloggers/camera shops are reporting that there is more interest in the Fujifilm X-T3 than any other camera at this time. Of course, this is anecdotal, but I have covered quite a few launches and something about this one feels special.

Unfortunately, great interest generally leads to lead to disappointment and frustration for those that are late to preorder so make sure to grab your camera now if you want one by/in October. The Fujifilm X-T3 could very easily end up sold out until the end of the year like the X100F was when it came out.

It looks like the Fujifilm X-T3 will be Fujifilm’s first camera with good eye/face detection and tracking. It might not reach Sony levels, but I am relatively certain it will surpass the Canon EOS R and Nikon Z6/Z7 from what I have seen. The X-T3 also gained Eterna, which I really enjoyed for photos and video on the Fujifilm X-H1, but the Fuji X-T3 is better designed for my needs.

Fujifilm GFX50R Clarification

FujiAddict posted the first correct information about the Fujifilm GFX 50R and X-T3 coming to Photokina 2018 last year and now the details are starting to get shaky thanks to everyone wanting to be on the GFX R bandwagon. This camera is going to be huge for Fujifilm and most of what has leaked falls within our original rumors except for the $3,600 price tag that Photorumors received the other day. Now Camerabeta, which leaked the above photo has come back with a $4,500 price tag.

It’s possible that some of the conflicting rumors about this camera are the result of Fujifilm trying to crack down on leaks by making changes to how information is distributed internally. So I am going to list the details by confidence:

Most Likely

  • Fujifilm X-E3 style with similar button layout, no ISO dial, and only shutter and exposure.
  • No top display
  • Joystiq
  • Tilting screen two-axis flip screen
  • Dual SD card slots
  • September 25th Announcement

Likely

  • Thickness less than 42mm so no more bulge on the sensor
  • Weightless than 800g vs 920g
  • NEW 40mm pancake lens

Unsure

  • Price of $3,600 to $4,500 but should be around at least our original leak of between $3,900 to $4,300

I think we can all infer more from what’s leaked, but the announcement isn’t very far away and I would rather be conservative about my reporting. Some sources are better than others and I hope to maintain high standards for out leaks instead of back peddling on rumors all the time like other sites do.

Make sure to join us on September 25th for our live blog for the best Fujifilm Photokina coverage around. Fujifilm has an event scheduled for September 25th at 07:30 AM York time, which is when we expect the announcement to occur so stay tuned.
