Godox AD600Pro Witstro Flash and XProF Wireless Trigger for Fujifilm Listed

The new Godox AD600Pro Witstro leaked a few days ago as the Flashpoint XPLOR 600PRO TTL, but it is now available with Godox branding if you prefer from B&H Photo and on Amazon. B&H Photo even has a bundle with the XProF Trigger for Fujifilm.

HCam DRS Shift Adapter For GFX Update

Discussion about shift adapters for the GFX is quite popular in our Fujifilm GFX Owners group, so I checked for developments with the HCam DRS Shift adapter reported earlier and they have been very actively answering questions on their facebook page. They also posted some demonstration photos with the new Canon EF-L 90mm and EF-L 135mm TS-E attached to their adapter. HCam.de elaborated a little about our original post about why they didn’t develop a Nikon adapter.

We took our time and thought about this thoroughly.
There are other products which offer Shift for Nikon or longer flange focal distance mounts,
but that was not what we wanted. Canon EF is our standard interface and we wanted to give a second Y-axis to the TS-E lenses (especially for the new 50,90 and 135mm)

so we made a little wonder of 3 movements (2x rotation for lens and camera independently) and shift with bidirectional 2x15mm on a very thin 18mm.

this is only possible because we took all the experiences of the Mirex line, the HCam Master TS V2 and the HCam HDS Doubleshifter and made something touching the limits of precision mechanics and materials. It could not be even a 1/10th of a mm less, or it would not be possible.

Markus Michelberger from Mirex who built this and myself who thought and talked to customers about this for some time have done the barely possible.

Now lets see what the market says.

Greetings from Germany
Stefan

The HCam.de is definitely an interesting solution for those looking for a Canon Shift adapter for the Fujifilm GFX.

Fringer EF-FX Pro Smart Adapter Update

Fringer’s EF-FX Pro PDAF AF adapter is pretty snappy on the Fujifilm X-T2 with the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM. I don’t currently own any Canon glass, but this adapter for X-mount is looking particularly good with Fringer going out of it’s way to make difficult to adapt glass compatible with Fujifilm PDAF cameras. According to Fringer Dev:

EF70-300L has special design that prevents smart adapters properly handle its AF. Now Fringer EF-FX Pro smart adapter has overcome the problem. Meanwhile, all pdaf focus points’ support is a must for high performance AF on X mount. That’s also shown in the demo video.

I though EF lenses are all the same and planned for optimizing EF70-300L’s AF on X mount in just one day. Finally I spend almost a week to solve the problem. This lens is equipped with a nonlinear AF motor which is definitely a nightmare for smart adapter developers. Its feature curve is like this:(see site)

Unlike smart adapters for GFX mount, e.g. my Contax645-GFX adapter and EF-GFX adapter from other manufacturers, smart adapters for X mount must support PDAF which is essential for high performance AF. That needs to calculate precisely on how to move AF motors which is very difficult when adapting EF70-300L. Now we made it!

Sounds like fringer is getting very close to release, which is great for fringer fans.

Should You Buy OEM NP-W126S Batteries or Generic?

A generic company just rebranded their batteries with the NP-W126S designation and I am getting a lot of questions about the battery from ecoEfficiency so I figured it deserves a post of its own and a bit of a disclaimer. This battery was originally listed May 10, 2012 and if anything substantially changed about the battery a new listing would have been created for it, which is fine. As I said in my initial Fujifilm X-T2 impressions my generic batteries worked fine in my Fujifilm X-T2. My Generic Wasabi Power batteries are still performing flawlessly for me, but I know many others that have had issues with generic batteries and I do not recommend you use them if you are getting paid to shoot or can’t hard power your camera on/off without missing a shot.

There are actually several listings on Amazon today that claim to be NP-W126S replacements but have not rebrand their battery as NP-W126S. I am sure these batteries work fine for most with cameras like the X-T2 also, but I believe you are always better off going with OEM batteries when it counts. Third party batteries working perfectly fine with an NP-W126S camera isn’t something new because I reported mine working fine back in September of 2016, but they do not seem to be problem free for everyone regardless of branding.

Fujifilm is really pushing the limits of their current hardware combined with the NP-W126S and I have some close personal friends shooting exactly the same cameras as me that haven’t been as lucky. Some have swapped their cameras with Fujifilm multiple times due to losing photos and video, but they are stubborn and won’t pay for OEM batteries and fast memory cards because their Canon or Nikon didn’t need that kind of babying. Well, unfortunately, Fujifilm cameras can get a little buggy if you don’t give them the best and it is something you grow to accept if you shoot enough of them, because luck doesn’t save your photos or video from corruption.

Sale Extension Fujifilm Savings Sunday Continues

The Fujifilm GFX sale is going so well that they might as well adopt the pricing model going forward, especially with the Fujifilm GFX 50R coming at a lower price. Sadly many of the X deals have gone along with the individual G-mount lens deals, but maybe they will be better next time around. At least you can still save up to $1000 on Apple laptops through B&H Photo among other things. The Apple sale will end January 31st. It also looks like the X-T1 price cuts are hear until they are out of stock.

Techart PRO Canon EF Lens to Fujifilm G-Mount Camera Autofocus Adapter Now Available at B&H Photo

Previously the Techart PRO Canon EF Lens to Fujifilm G-Mount adapters were only shipping directly from China and a few readers were concerned about the company, but now that it is shipping B&H Photo has them for sale. This is great news for those concerned about buying from overseas because B&H is a trustworthy camera retailer. I have been impressed with Techart from the start, being one of the first to receive an M-mount unit and testing it at B&H Photo for compatibility. Of course, they have grown a lot since then and established relations of their own with B&H Photo, which is great news for photographers interested in this innovative AF adapter.

It’s also the last day to save on GFX
