Fujifilm Co., Ltd. (President: Kenji Sukeno) has developed a commercial antiviral film “Hydro Ag + VIRUS PLUS ” that has a long-lasting antibacterial and antiviral effect due to its unique antibacterial technology “Hydro Ag + “. Will be released from the end of May 2021. In an evaluation test to confirm the effect of this product on the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), 99.4% * 2 or more of the virus was inactivated * 1 . This evaluation was carried out as part of joint research with the Kanagawa Prefectural Institute of Industrial Technology. By using “Hydro Ag + VIRUS PLUS”, you can expect the effect of suppressing the growth of bacteria and viruses such as SARS-CoV-2. In the future, we plan to apply for the SIAA * 3 “anti-virus processing” mark of this product .

The “Hydro Ag + VIRUS PLUS” to be released this time uses a unique antibacterial technology “Hydro Ag + ” to combine a silver-based antibacterial agent and a superhydrophilic polymer, and the surface of the film is simply coated with a silver-based antibacterial agent. In addition, silver ions are always supplied to the surface of the film from the silver-based antibacterial agent in the film, so high antibacterial and antiviral performance is maintained for a long period of time. The number of viruses that have adhered by attaching this product to touch panels and digital signage of public facilities that are touched by an unspecified number of people, displays of tablets and smartphones, and by using it as a splash prevention partition in medical facilities, convenience stores, taxis, etc. It can be expected to reduce the risk of infection in daily life.
“Hydro Ag + VIRUS PLUS” has a lineup of two types, clear type and matte type. The clear type has high transparency and clearly reproduces the vividness and contrast of the display even after the film is attached. In addition, the special hydrophilic coating repels oil and water, making it easy to wipe off fingerprints and dirt. The matte type has a special water-repellent anti-glare coating that prevents fingerprints from sticking when operating the screen and reduces reflections.

[Outline and results of evaluation test to confirm the effect on new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2)]
We prepared a test film of “Hydro Ag + VIRUS PLUS” and conducted the following evaluations.
A diluted solution of the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2 solution) was dropped on the antiviral surface of the test film, covered with an unprocessed film, and allowed to stand at room temperature for 24 hours. After that, the SARS-CoV-2 solution was collected and the virus titer (Rikika) * 4 , which is an index of the amount of virus with infectivity, was calculated. “Hydro Ag + VIRUS PLUS” by comparing the virus titers of SARS-CoV-2 solution * 5 dropped on the test film and SARS-CoV-2 solution that was allowed to stand at room temperature for 24 hours without dropping on the test film. We evaluated the virus inactivation of the test film.

The test film of Hydro Ag + VIRUS PLUS showed virus inactivation of 99.4% or more in both clear type and matte type. (table)
