FUJIFILM X-A5, X-A3, And X-A20 Firmware Updates Released

FUJIFILM X-A5 ver. 1.10 Download Here
The firmware update Ver.1.10 from Ver.1.00 incorporates the following issues:

  1. Introducing a new PDAF algorithm
Applying the newly developed PDAF algorithm first featured on the FUJIFILM X-T100. The improvement in autofocus speed and accuracy ensures that you capture those beautiful photographic moments quicker.
  2. Extended movie recording time
The optimized movie processing algorithm extends the individual movie recording time up to approximately 30 minutes in any movie quality. <Note> Although movie recording will continue without interruption when the file size reaches 4GB, subsequent footage will be recorded to a separate file which must be viewed separately.
  3. Initial setting of ISO is changed to “AUTO” from “200” when switching to P, S, A, M, and Adv mode.
  4. Visibility on the LCD is improved during CL shooting.
  5. Improved HDMI output usability
This upgrade eliminates the time limitation.
  6. Graphic interface is modified when the main LCD monitor is inverted by 180 degrees.
  7. The phenomenon is fixed that in rare cases, INTERVAL TIMER SHOOTING stops.

New Sony 32MP APS-C IMX342LQA Sensor Leaked

Documents for a new Sony APS-C sensor leaked today that appear to be legitimate. They could be an indication of some of Sony’s next generation APS-C  sensor capabilities to come, but it’s unlikely that this sensor will end up in the Fujifilm X-T3 at this time. A sensor very much like it might though with global shutter and more. We will know more about the upcoming Fujifilm X-T3 very soon and Photokina isn’t very far away so make sure you follow us on FacebookTwitterInstagramYouTube.

Relations Between Fujifilm and Xerox Are Breaking Down

Fujifilm is trying to force their merger with Xerox or collect damages, which is causing relations to sour between the two companies. Market insider published part of a letter between Vice Chairman and CEO John Visentin and Fujifilm’s Chairman Shigetaka Komori responding to the lawsuit filed by Fujifilm stating:

“Fujifilm should realize that the internal accounting issues at Fuji Xerox were a result of their mismanagement, which made it impossible to close the announced transaction,” said Visentin. “We cannot stand by and let them further harm our iconic brand. The lawsuit is nothing more than a desperate and misguided negotiating ploy to save their takeover attempt, which to this day remains enjoined by order of the New York State Supreme Court, and could take our focus away from serving our customers.”

“Our focus is on running the business in the service of our thousands of customers and partners and delivering exceptional value through market-leading services, products and delivery capabilities,” added Visentin.

“Fujifilm’s actions have forced us to move forward on several fronts to protect our supply chain. First, we will start, in a material way, to source products from new vendors. Second, we will build partnerships with companies that are aligned with the Xerox mission to provide world-class technology and solutions. Third, we currently believe Xerox will be much better served by not renewing our Technology Agreement with Fuji Xerox when it expires. We will detail for our shareholders the enormous opportunity for Xerox to sell products directly into the growing Asia-Pacific market with sole and exclusive use of the valuable Xerox name, and a more efficient, better managed supply chain than exists with Fuji Xerox today.”

“Xerox is a proven technology innovator and an exceptionally resilient company; we remain steadfastly focused on creating shareholder value through our renowned innovation capabilities, globally recognized brand, and leading market presence.”

Unfortunately, the deterioration of the relationship could affect Fujifilm’s long-term bottom line because Xerox is threatening to not renew their partnership in 2021 when it expires according to multiple sites (1, 2, …). The lose of their lucrative partnership could cost a lot more than the $1 billion that they are currently suing Xerox for. If Xerox terminated their partnership they would most likely have to start producing their products again independently and it’s unclear how successful of a move this would be. In the meantime, Xerox stock continues to fall in price.

Fringer EF/FX Adapters’ Bug Fix Firmware (V2.10) is Available

According to some users’ feedback, V2.0 firmware introduced a bug that some old lenses may fail to be identified by the adapter. Wrong aperture value is displayed and AF doesn’t work properly. Meanwhile, we also fixed a bug that may cause repeatedly black screen and camera restart under some rare conditions. Please upgrade you adapter as soon as possible.

Be noted, V2.10 is a replacement for V2.0 as the new baseline. In the future all firmware version newer than V2.10 can only be installed on adapter with V2.0, V2.10 or newer version firmware. V1.x must be upgraded to V2.0 or V2.10 before install firmware newer than V2.10.

2018/6/24
Version 2.10 (Bug fix version)
1.Bug fixed: Under some rare conditions, it may occur repeatedly that the LCD go black and the camera restart.
2.Bug fixed: Fail to identify some old lenses, such as Tamron 90/2.8 the oldest version, Canon 50/1.8 II, etc. The aperture value displayed may be incorrect.
Note: v2.10 is a bug fix for v2.0. Thus, you don’t need to install v2.0 before v2.10 on a v1.x adapter. Adapters with firmware v1.x must be upgraded to v2.0 or v2.10 before install any firmware newer than v2.10. Upgrading from v1.x to firmware newer than v2.10 directly is not supported.
