Markus Klinko Behind The Scenes

Markus Klinko’s 2000’s exhibit is about to wrap up at the Mouche Gallery in Beverly Hills, but there is still a lot of press about the event to be found. Our original announcement has more information about the event, which is about to end, but if you can’t make it check out some of the press. Markus has always used Fujifilm products to get the best quality possible out of his prints and he is now a big fan of the Fujifilm GFX, which is currently on sale if you’re interested having the best image quality possible for under 10k.

DPR: Fujifilm X-T100 Review

DPReview finished reviewing the Fujifilm X-T100 and the camera did respectably well considering its price point. You can read the full review here, but in short, the Fuji X-T100 is not a snappy camera capable of keeping up with moving subjects and don’t expect useful 4k footage. It’s just a good all-around starter camera with exceptional image quality at its price point.

Pros

  • Excellent JPEG quality
  • Sensor has low noise at high ISOs
  • Unique LCD design tilts and flips outward
  • Well-built for the price
  • Built-in 2.36M-dot OLED EVF
  • Third dial encourages experimenting with Film Simulation modes
  • Great battery life
  • USB charging
  • Grip included

Cons

  • Poor autofocus for moving subjects
  • Poor face detection performance
  • Laggy interface
  • Noticeable delay between pressing video record button and start of capture
  • Default JPEG sharpening a bit high
  • Limited customization
  • Poor video quality (4K and 1080p)
  • 4K/15p video not a serious feature
  • Buffer fills quickly when shooting Raw bursts
  • Touchscreen can’t be used for Q Menu
  • Slow and clunky Multi Focus feature

Lens Size Comparison: Fujinon XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR

The Fujinon XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR is now on camerasize.com and you can compare it to other 12-24mm lenses for Canon and Nikon now. Unfortunately, they only have 12-24mm f/4+ lenses at this time, but the Fujinon XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR compares well to the Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 DG HSM II and Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 12-24mm f/4G IF ED in size and weight. It’s actually not even that much bigger than the Fujinon XF 10-24mm f/4 R OIS.

Profoto A1 Firmware B5 Released

Profoto hasn’t released a Fujifilm specific A1 yet, but the A1 works great with the Profoto Air Remote TTL-F. Unfortunately, it seems the Profoto A1 has some issues, but the latest firmware update addresses them.

The Profoto A1 battery is designed to deliver up to 350 full power flashes on a full charge depending on the shooting conditions. However, some customers have experienced a lower number of flashes and there could be 2 reasons for this:

1) Your A1 Firmware is out of date
Solution – Update the firmware to version B5 or later for your Profoto A1. To do this, register or log in to My Profoto and download the latest update & installation instructions.

2) Some very early production units have a hardware issue
This can be identified by rapidly draining battery or the head heating up while set to standby and not in use. This problem is related to the zoom motor which might drain the battery and overheat

Solution – Run the following test:

– Turn on your Profoto A1 and put it in standby-mode in room temperature
– Leave it in standby mode for 15-20 minutes. Do not use the A1 during this time.
– If you then are experiencing distinct temperature rise on the head of your Profoto A1 unit, please contact your local Profoto dealer or distributor – a complete list can be found at https://profoto.com/find-dealer-or-rental/

We apologise for any inconvenience this might have caused our customers.

Michael Goldrei’s Chromorama Now Available

Budapest 2016

I met Michael Goldrei a few years ago shortly before starting the Addict sites while working with Leicarumors at the Miami Street Photography Festival, and over the years we have kept in touch. We spent most of that first night talking about the various cameras that we love to use and our philosophies about photography. We were both big fans of Fujifilm and Leica so we kept in touch.

He has a unique eye and I have enjoyed following his carrier since. Today he is releasing his first book and some of the special editions are particularly tempting if you’re a collector of photo books. You can read more about Chromorama and it’s Author below, but if you’re interested in being featured on FujiAddict feel free to reach out and you could be featured here too. We try to support readers in every way that we can so I hope you enjoy some of the photos Michael has shared with us.

Hallstatt, Austria 2018

Vienna-based street photographer Michael Goldrei originally hails from the UK. He is the founder of Optic Nerve Street Photography collective [http://www.opticnervecollective.com/], has had his work featured by the BBC and Time Out London, and has been a finalist at Miami Street Photography Festival, StreetFoto San Francisco, and London Street Photography Festival.
