Laowa 24mm f/14 Relay 2x Macro Lens Specifications

Photorumors received some additional information about the Laowa 24mm f/14 Relay 2x Macro Lens. Unfortunately, this lens will not be native X-mount, but they will likely sell it with an adapter like the Laowa 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5X Ultra-Macro. While this is less than ideal Venus Optic lenses are all manual so you shouldn’t miss out on much by adopting this lens for X-mount if you’re interested. This lens will launch on August 1st via Kickstarter (For $1 if you’re one of the first) and it will later be available on their site.

Elinchrom Brings ELB 500 TTL Compatibility For Sony And Olympus Users With Fujifilm To Shortly Follow

Elinchrom Brings ELB 500 TTL Compatibility For Sony And Olympus Users With Fujifilm To Shortly Follow
Canon®, Nikon®, Sony®, Olympus® and Panasonic® users can now have it all. All existing Elinchrom HS Transmitters can be updated to the Transmitter PRO version, which includes TTL functionality for the ELB 500 TTL.

Right after Nikon and Canon, Hi-Sync, HSS and TTL are now available for Sony and Olympus users too.
TTL, HSS or Hi-Sync. All features a photographer may need are now compiled in one single transmitter.

Using an ELB 1200 with Hi-Sync synchronisation or an ELB 500 TTL with HSS, the Transmitter PRO will detect automatically in which mode to switch. Even better, using an ELB 1200 with a Hi-Sync head along with a ELB 500 TTL in the same setup is possible (manual mode). Hi-Sync and HSS just work seamlessly.

Compatibility for all with the ELB 500 TTL.
The ELB 500 TTL is the ideal tool for photographers who find themselves in time sensitive shooting environments where the inherent speed of TTL lets them capture images at the speed of life or for those who simply prefer the convenience of TTL.

The “Manual Lock” functionality allows photographers to get an initial “lock” on their exposure in TTL and then switch to manual mode to further adjust their exposure as they need or to explore different creative effects.

A new version (2.2) for Canon and Nikon also brings more features, stability and support for third part devices such as Rotolight.

These features are built-in right from the start on versions 2.1 for Sony and Olympus.

Fujifilm, the wait is over.
Users of the long-awaited Transmitter for Fujifilm will soon be rewarded for their wait. The Transmitter PRO for Fujiilm will be available in September.

Fujifilm Might Continue Producing ACROS Film If They Can Make It Viable

Fujifilm has been discounting their film pretty aggressively throughout the past year, but there might be some hope for Black and White fans. According to itmedia.co.jp Fujifilm is looking into a way to reliably source the materials needed to produce their black and white film after the run on film this year which still continues at B&H Photo / Amazon / Adorama, and the many voices that spoke out to save ACROS.

Fujifilm’s primary issue with continuing to produce film at this time seems to be more tightly tied to cost and raw material procurement than a lack of demand, so maybe they will find a way around their stated issues. If not then they could also raise their prices to slow demand and make film more profitable. Either way, these are still early days for Fujifilm looking into saving the format and a lot can happen between now and 2019. We might even see them decided to save more film types if sales remain strong and voices loud. This is almost entirely up to the community at this time, because Fujifilm hasn’t completely divested its self of their film business yet.

Laowa 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5X Ultra-Macro X-Mount Adapter and Ring Light: Updated

Venus Optic released the Laowa 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5X Ultra-Macro a while ago, but not for X-Mount. So I haven’t posted about this lens here, but now Venus Optics sells the Laowa 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5X Ultra-Macro with an X-Mount adapter on their site. I noticed the adapter when looking at their new ring light for the Laowa 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5X Ultra-Macro that was announced today in advance of their new macro lens the Laowa 24mm f/14 (UPDATED: Coming Aug. 1st on Kickstarter). Venus Optics is certainly creating some interesting Macro products for all of us after releasing the extremely wide Laowa 9mm f/2.8 ZERO-D.

Fujifilm X-T100 Brown and Graphite/Dark Silver

It looks like Asia is either getting some special cameras or resalers are modifying them. Shortly after the X-A5 Graphite photos surfaced I was contacted with these two cameras an X-T100 Brown (here) and Graphite (here) that google translate calls dark silver.
