Fujifilm Interview With Theo Georgiades Part 1 – Fujifilm 3rd in UK, X100VI Demand, Fujifilm X-E/X-Pro, and More

The amateur photographer posted an interview with Theo Georgiades about the state of Fujifilm in the UK. You can read the full interview here or check out the bullet points below.

Fujifilm’s Market Share

  • Fujifilm has healthy growth and they are excited about the future
  • Recent product launches have all done exceptionally well
  • Fujifilm is strong without Full Frame
  • Fujifilm is number 3 in the UK in terms of sales behind Canon and Sony
  • The X100VI and GFX have been selling very well

Fujifilm X100VI Supply Issues

  • Fujifilm doesn’t fell like they underestimated demand because stock sitting around is bad for business
  • The launch of the X100VI was unprecidented though
  • No one could have predicted how orders would accelerate and Fujifilm found it amazing
  • Fujifilm acted on demand quickly and they are working hard to catch up
  • It takes two years to launch a camera
  • It takes time to increase supply, but as soon as Fujifilm saw the demand they got to work
  • Fujifilm has increased allocation to retailers since September and wait time has decreased steadily
  • Demand still remains high for the X100VI but customers are only waiting a couple of months instead of six months now
  • Hndisgh is 20/20 and it’s great everyone is talking about the shortages, but Fujifilm is doing everything it can to catch up
  • For the customers that want the X100VI for film simulation they can also get cameras like the X-S20, a X-T5, or X-T50 so there might be an issue with customer education too

Best-Selling Cameras in the UK

  • Fujifilm X100VI surpassed the X-T5, but it was close
  • Next was the Fujifilm X-T30II which had some kind of viral phenomenon
  • X-T50 was off to a good start, but demand slowed before picking up again
  • Cameras with a legacy tend to sell better than new models like the X-T50
  • Fujifilm’s use of a film simulation dial has attracted a lot of new users
  • When new cameras are launched people expect them to do everything, but no camera is for everyone

Fujifilm X-E and X-Pro Line

  • Yes there are plans for a new X-E and X-Pro camera
  • Covid lockdown slowed development because costs became astronomical, which disrupted the release cycle
  • Fujifilm prioritized certain lines as a result
  • The Fujifilm X-Pro and X-E are still important to Fujifilm just like enthusiasts
  • Developing the new X-Pro and X-E will take some time

Viltrox Unveils New AF 35mm F1.7 Air E/XF/Z: A Lightweight Standard Lens for Creative Freedom
The Viltrox AF 35mm F1.7 APS-C lens, available in XF, E, and Z mounts, combines a versatile 52mm-equivalent focal length with a large F1.7 aperture. Its compact 170g design ensures easy portability, making it ideal for street, portrait, and everyday photography. The lens packs the beautiful bokeh, precise autofocus and high image quality into a compact design with durable quality and stylish appearance. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced photographer, the AF 35mm F1.7 is your go-to companion for capturing stunning moments.

About Full-frame and APS-C Sensors
Full-frame and APS-C sensors are two common types in cameras, differing in size and performance. A full-frame sensor matches the size of 35mm film, offering better low-light performance and a wider field of view, making it ideal for professionals. APS-C sensors, on the other hand, are smaller and provide a cropped field of view with a 1.5x crop factor, making them lightweight, cost-effective, and perfect for enthusiasts. The Viltrox AF 35mm F1.7 is designed specifically for APS-C cameras, delivering exceptional image quality and performance.

Viltrox AF 35mm F1.7 is designed for Fujifilm XF, Sony E, and Nikon Z mounts, offering outstanding optical performance with 9 elements in 8 groups. With a minimum focusing distance of 0.33m, it delivers sharp, detailed close-ups and stunning bokeh. The silent STM motor ensures smooth and accurate autofocus, making it perfect for portraits, street photography, still life, and video. Compact and weighing just 170g, this lens is the ideal choice for photographers who value portability and creativity.

Advantages of the Viltrox AF 35mm F1.7  over similar lenses:
01 Better value for money—The Viltrox AF 35mm F1.7 combines a wide F1.7 aperture and precise autofocus at a highly competitive price, delivering exceptional performance without breaking the bank.

02 Superior chromatic aberration control—Equipped with advanced optical elements, the lens effectively minimizes chromatic aberration, even at wider apertures, ensuring sharper and more vivid images.

03 Lighter and more portable—Weighing just 170g and compact enough to fit in your pocket, the AF 35mm F1.7 is lighter than many competitors, making it perfect for photographers on the go.

04 Better bokeh performance—The F1.7 aperture produces creamy, dreamy background blur, allowing subjects to stand out while maintaining excellent image sharpness in portraits and still-life photography.

05 Improved focus breathing control—Designed with minimal focus breathing, the lens ensures smooth and stable transitions, making it a reliable choice for video creators and vloggers.
