Fujifilm Management Responded to The Effort to Save Fujifilm FP-100C

FP100c

Fujifilm management has responded to the efforts to save packfilm and, in my opinion, the future sounds bleak.  Nonetheless, the people behind the effort to save FP-100C remain positive. Fujifilm’s response of “while we cannot continue to manufacture and market the FP-100C, we will continue to support the photographic industry” does not sound good to me at all. You can read more about the effort here and here, but if you want to pick up what could be some of the last packfilm produced, check out AmazonB&H Photo, and Adorama as they have had it tricking in over the past few weeks.

X-Pro2 Extreme Test in Antartica by Gianluca Colla / FUJIFILM

The X-Pro 2 seems to have some great weather sealing from the various extreme videos I have seen on the web, but this is probably the most extreme by far. I’m not sure I would want to risk my camera in a leaky submersible bag like Gianluca Colla does in the video.

Lens Pack Reviewed

L1030143

I have been consistently using, and abusing, the Lens Packs that were sent to me for a few weeks now, and I think I have come to a conclusion that will be useful to people considering purchasing one, or a few. I’m also hopeful that this review will help people that are confused about the product to better understand its function and how it might benefit them. There has been a lot of dialog about this product on Fuji Addict and it has been a learning experience for me because a very helpful reader provided me with a brief history lesson about camera bags. RoboSHOOT remote TTL trigger for Fuji X Camera’s Are Now Available

Roboshoot Combo

RoboSHOOT remote TTL triggers are now available in the United States for Fuji X cameras. According to Serene Automation, the makers of RoboSHOOT, their flagship remote trigger allows for off camera TTL with Nikon, Nissin, and Fuji flashes, which is a first for remote triggers. Further, Imagine Resource reports there are “third-party reports of the setup working with the Nikon variants of the Metz 52AF-1 and Yongnuo YN-568EX, among others.” These triggers seem very useful from what I have read about them, but if you want to read a hands on review, morethanwords.be has an article worth reading 5 Reasons the RoboShOOT X Flash triggers for Fuji are a game changer.

There are two lines of flash triggers currently available from Serene Automation for Fuji X cameras at this time from Serene Automation that can be mixed and matched pretty liberally, but support for Nikon flashes and an external sync port are limited to the  20 line. So, if you’re interested in full Nikon compatibility and/or sync ports, purchase the RoboSHOOT MX-20/RX-20 bundle and add flash appropriate receivers. Theres even a useful iOS and Android app for the MX-20 that uses Bluetooth and isn’t available for the MX-15.

Perfect for ENG and Mobile Production Shoots, New 4K Zoom Combines Precision Optics, HDR, and Impressive Linearity

Wayne, N.J., April 12, 2016 – At the upcoming NAB Show, the Optical Devices Division of FUJIFILM North America will introduce the FUJINON UA13x4.5 wide angle Ultra HD (UHD) lens. Part of the company’s flagship UA Series of 4K+ 2/3” lenses, the world’s first designed specifically for UHD broadcast applications, the UA13x delivers true 4K optical quality to 2/3-inch 4K ENG cameras and camcorders. The wide angle UA13x4.5 wide angle can be seen along with the complete FUJINON Premier 4K+ product family at Booth C7125 during the NAB Show, running from April 16-21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“The UA13’s superb wide angle capabilities are a result of our latest optical simulation software, which was used to model the UA13’s large diameter aspherical elements,” said Thom Calabro, director of Marketing and Product Development for the Optical Division of FUJIFILM. “Meanwhile, the UA13’s multi-group zoom system suppresses image distortion and ensures that 4K UHD images captured by the lens remain consistent and accurate from center to corner, no matter how tight or wide the shot is.”

High resolution, high contrast, and high dynamic range are hallmarks of the Premier 4K+ UA Series.The UA13’s aspherical elements have been treated with the latest High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating (HT-EBC). Using HT-EBC in tandem with FUJIFILM’s exclusive Aspheric Technology, the UA13 is able to reduce ghosting and lens flares, while increasing the amount of light transmitted through the lens to the camera’s sensors.

The UA13’s latest generation Servo Drive Unit has been built to support a wide range of remotely-controlled zoom, focus, and iris functions. It relies on 16-bit encoders to provide accurate two-way communications between the UA13 servo and the remote operator, using either RS-232 serial data or traditional analog communications. These features allow the UA13 to be remotely-controlled for human- and robotically-controlled shooting, jib shots, tower cams, and videoconferencing; among other applications.

“These capabilities combine to deliver clear, vibrant and optically accurate 4K images,” Calabro said.“The UA13 is a fully-featured 4K UHD lens that addresses the needs of high-end shooters. It is the lens the industry needs today to start shooting 4K UHD now.”

New Fujinon UA107X is Industry’s Longest, Widest 4KUHD Lens

Ground-Breaking Lens Delivers Crisp 4K Images across Entire Zoom Range, Better Color Capture, and High Dynamic Range.

Wayne, N.J., April 12, 2016 – At the upcoming NAB Show, the Optical Devices Division of FUJIFILM North America will introduce its cutting-edge FUJINON UA107x8.4 (UA107x) broadcast lens – the longest and widest 4K lens ever created for Ultra HD (UHD) broadcast applications. The UA107x 4K UHD lens can be seen along with the complete FUJINON Premier 4K product family at Booth C7125 during the NAB Show, running from April 16-21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Destined to set a new standard for 4K UHD and HD production worldwide, the UA107x provides superb 4K optical quality across the entire zoom focal range – a hallmark of the FUJINON ZK series of Cine-Style lenses.

“With an F number of 1.7 and a focal length of 8.4 to 900mm, the UA107 raises the bar for 4K UHD and HD production worldwide,” said Thom Calabro, director of Marketing and Product Development for the Optical Division of FUJIFILM. “A proprietary anti-fogging system reduces downtime due to moisture, which is a critical concern when shooting in all types of weather. And it comes with patented OS-TECH optical image stabilization technology for rock-steady performance, even when making the longest UHD shots. The UA107x produces images that are sure to impress.”

The UA107’s refined optical quality has been engineered using FUJIFILM’s latest optical simulation software, which was used to model the UA107’s large diameter aspherical elements. This lens has a multi-group zoom system that suppresses image distortion and ensures that 4K UHD images captured remain consistent and accurate from center to corner, making the UA107x a solid choice to complement today’s 4K 2/3” UHD cameras.

High resolution, high contrast, and high dynamic range are hallmarks of the Premier 4K UA Series. The UA107x’s aspherical elements have been treated with the latest High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating (HT-EBC). Using HT-EBC in tandem with FUJIFILM’s exclusive Aspheric Technology, the UA107 is able to reduce ghosting and lens flares, while increasing the amount of light transmitted through the lens to the camera’s sensors.

“The UA107 delivers richer colors plus greatly enhanced blue response and transmittance, due to its use of the latest High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating (HT-EBC),” said Calabro. “Coupled with FUJIFILM’s exclusive Aspheric Technology, and the UA107x is able to reduce ghosts and flares while increasing light transmission to the camera sensors.”

Users of FUJINON’s UA80x and XA99X lenses will feel right at home using the XA107x, because this new 4K lens retains all the same digital features, including: F number limit, Quick Zoom, two-shot presets, a 2X extender, and other precision digital functions designed to increase production flexibility.
