Fujinon MK 18-55 T2.9 Cine Coming Soon

The Fujinon MK 18-55 T2.9 is coming to X-Mount soon and many cinematographers/videographers can’t wait. The MK will be the first X-Mount cinema lens and should help the X system seriously compete with Sony’s a7 and a6xxx cameras. It’s a shame they didn’t launch the X and E-mount lenses together, but hopefully this will lead to more native cinema glass in the near future. There is also the possibility that the lenses release was held for a FS5/FS7 competitor since the lens was designed for that class of camera and might be a little over kill for the Fujifilm XT2/XT20.

Red Shark News – “Overall, optical performance is good or very good as it should be given the modest 3:1 zoom range. The minimum aperture can be used without reservation.”

The Fujifilm Designer Series XF50/35/23 f/2 R WR

The Fujifilm Designer Series is an excellent value, but Fujifilm hasn’t been using the branding since they first mentioned it here. Now that all three lenses are widely available it would be really cool if Fujifilm sold a special package of all three lenses with an XPro2 using the Designer Series branding.

Fujinon XF50 F2 R WR
FStoppers – “”wow.” The images that come out of this lens are sharp, contrasty, and have smooth out of focus areas.”
f16.click – ” I’m quite smitten by the Fujifilm 50mm F2″
admiringlight – “The 50mm f/2 provides great value and high-end imaging in a small package, and continues Fuji’s excellent reputation for creating quality optics.”
jonasraskphotography – “For the 3rd time in a row, I can say that the Fujinon lenses deliver stellar quality no matter what focal length they seem to get involved in making. I really love how this lens treats the transitions between in focus and out of focus. It reminds me of my old Leica Summilux 50mm f/1.4. It has a softness, yet sharpness that brings a very organic look to the images.”

Fujinon XF35 F2 R WR
FStoppers – “With the extra sharpness and 9 rounded aperture blades, it is a worthy replacement for the f/1.4 version.”
f16.click – “Wide open, the lens has a gorgeous look to the images, and I personally think the bokeh is very pleasing.”
admiringlight – “The XF 35mm f/2 R WR is a lens that makes life difficult for Fuji users, because it provides better optical quality, better autofocus and better construction than the more expensive f/1.4 lens, but loses a stop of light.”
jonasraskphotography – “Is it sharp? YES… Does it have great bokeh? YES… Does it have microcontrast? YES… Does it render like the 35mm f/1.4? YES, and more!…”

Fujinon XF23 F2 R WR
FStoppers – “I found myself really impressed with the it’s performance and versatility.”
f16.click – “The speed is incredible.  And I mean incredible to the point that sometimes I have to wonder if in fact the AF has done anything.”
admiringlight – “For the cost of the lens, I think it’s a good buy and an easy lens to recommend, but those seeking the best 35mm equivalent for Fuji will likely want to save up for the 23mm f/1.4.”
jonasraskphotography – “The 23mm f/2 WR is sharp and has great bokeh through the entire aperture range.”

Future Fujifilm GFX 100S Sensor Verified and More GFX 50S Adapted Glass

Sony released a document verifying the Senosors we spotted the other day for a future Fujifilm GFX camera. So the details of the future Fujifilm GFX sensor is a known now, lets hope the Fujifilm GFX100 becomes a thing. At the very least we know the Fujifilm GFX 100S will live up to Fujifilm’s hype. Since the new sensor incorporates BSI and more modern technologies than the current GFX sensor. A two year life cycle for the GFX system wouldn’t be too bad and is pretty typical for cameras in this class.

Fujifilm X-T2 6 Foot Drop, X-T2/X-Pro2 Firmware Reviews and New Firmware Website

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hVf3oxtYQc

Fabian Pourmand dropped his Fujifilm X-T2 6 feet! The drop only damaged to his screen protector and battery door. I use the Phantom Glass screen protector on my X-T2 and it works perfectly, but this should be a warning for those that like to shoot strapless. I have saved more than a few of my cameras from spills by grabbing the strap of a falling camera, but I have also fallen face first on a M camera and that was heart breaking. Be careful people.

Fujifilm takes their big firmware updates seriously and Firmware update 2.0 for the Fujifilm X-T2 and update 3.0 for the X-Pro2 have been very well received. In fact Fujifilm updates are so serious that they now own Fujifilmfirmware.com just so you can get your firmware faster. When you buy a Fujifilm camera on day one you get to look forward to that new camera feeling 2-3x throughout your ownership experience, which no other manufacture can match.

Fujifilm GFX 50S L-Brackets from FLM and Really Right Stuff, Plus Articles

The FLM L-Bracket is the first generic L-Bracket that I have seen successfully fitted to the Fujifilm GFX 50S. It leaves room to access ports, but you will need to loosen the bracket to switch batteries. RRS (Really Right Stuff) also opened their pre-order page today, but no details about the L-Bracket are available yet.
