Fujifilm X RAW Studio and X RAW Studio vs Lightroom

I like many haven’t really found a use for Fujifilm X RAW Studio in my workflow, but the above video from Fujifilm about Yukio Uchida made me reconsider the utility of the software a little. If you like to shoot a final baked in photo with JPG like Yukio Uchida than X RAW Studio can help you learn all of the JPG tweaks available on Fujifilm cameras on a bigger screen, which will shrink your learning curve and allow you to try more film simulations and settings than you might have otherwise.

Similarly, Fujifilm X RAW Studio could help convert JPG shooters into RAW shooters by showing them just how far Fujifilm RAW files can be pushed. X RAW Studio is an interesting tool I will be including it in my next RAW engine comparison, but I am curious how much use it is getting. It is good to see that Lightroom and X RAW Studio have very similar final colors for their Fujifilm simulations from the limited amount of testing out there and maybe I will explore that more in the future too. Many photographers enjoy Fujifilms simulations and programs like Luminar and ON1 should hopefully have the officially soon.

Techart (Shoten) EF-FG 01 Firmware Update

The latest firmware Ver. 2.0.0 was released on the electronic adapter SHOTEN (EF-FG 01) which can be used with Canon EF mount lens, medium size Mirrorless camera of FUJIFILM G mount standard. (* Firmware compatible with Windows 8 and Windows 10. Otherwise, it does not correspond.)

  1. Improve focus accuracy on lenses
  2. AF-C shooting (Further optimisation needed for certain lenses)
  3. Video shooting (Further optimisation needed for certain lenses)
  4. Support correct lens model number written into EXIF
  5. Improve the speed to turn on the camera after image preview
  6. Improve compatibility of Tamron Lenses
  7. *Selective removal of the pre-set 63mm lens profile.

* To remove the profile, press and hold the silver button on the adapter to switch on the camera. Removing the profile will disable the distortion & vignetting correction function and may result in a more/less satisfactory image on different lenses. Please test before use.

Initialization of Techart EF-GFX adapter

The firmware v2.0 requires initialization at first connection. The camera has to save the parameters of your lens in the first connection. The lens will run a full focusing from closest to infinity automatically after connected. (it normally takes less than 5 seconds).  Please do not disturb or press any buttons during this initialization process. Once the camera has saved the parameters of the lens in the first connection, no further initialization is needed for the same lens. This initialization will repeat itself when a different lens is mounted onto the adapter.

Update Instructions

  1. Prepare a mini-USB cable and connect the adapter to a computer with Windows 8 / 10 operating system
  2. Unzip and open the application.
  3. Left-click the EF-GF01 Adapter firmware
  4. Click the ‘Update’ button
  5. Wait until the power bar goes to complete (It usually takes less than 10 seconds)
  6. Update is finished

Profoto Features: Fujifilm Photographer Michelle Turner Using Profoto A1 and Profoto B2

Michelle Turner uses the Profoto A1 on location with the Profoto Air Remote TTL-F for fill flash to get the look she wants from her photography. When she needs a little more power Michelle turns to the Profoto B2, which is more my style of lighting if I am going to spend Profoto money. To the best of my knowledge Michelle Turner is the first Fujifilm photographer to be featured by Profoto, so we should all show her some support and check out her work here.

No doubt the addition of HSS and TTL support with the release of theProfoto Air Remote TTL-F will help grow Fujifilm’s professional audience and Profoto’s Fujifilm fans. I hope we get to see a lot more Fujifilm photographers on Profoto’s page in the near future as more Professional Fujifilm photographers pickup Profoto lights and as more professionals switch to Fujifilm cameras in the years to come.

Fujifilm X-T3 Rumor Nothing New

I already leaked the full Fujifilm X-T3 rumor over a month ago, but I received some E-mails from readers that might have missed it the first time around. I try not to repost my rumors for SEO and clicks, but sometimes others post them much later from a “trusted source” with tweaks to make them appear new. Many cameras that launch at Photokina come out around the end of that year or beginning of the following etc… You can see a timeline of our list of leaked cameras below again, which I originally created here.

2018

  • Fujifilm X-H1 Expected February 2018
    • IBIS
    • Max Framerate 4K :30fps. X-H1’s Max Framerate HD :120fps
    • Higher quality video than X-T2
    • exposure compensation button instead of exposure compensation Dial
    • Sub Monochrome LCD Monitor
    • Fujifilm WP-126s battery
    • much bigger and deeper hand grip
    • same processor as X-T2
    • in X photographers hands today
    • dust and weather-resistant body
    • camera for both videographers and photographers
    • ETERNA Film simulation
    • between $1900 and $2200
  • Fujifilm X80 will likely become XF10 due to a name change Launch date unknown
    • maybe bayer sensor
  • Fujifilm X-T100 Q1
    • include new XC 15-45 kit lens
    • Q1 is an opinion from source
  • Fujifilm GFX 50R Photokina 2018 (September 25 – September 30)
    • Price between $3,900 to $4,300
    • 50MP sensor still
    • Range Finder Medium Format Mirrorless İntercangeable Lens Camera
    • Announcement or shipping ( which one is not clear ) will be at  Photokina 2018
    • Basically X-Pro version of GFX 50S
  • Fujifilm X-T3 Photokina 2018 (September 25 – September 30)
    • New Processor
    • Max Framerate 4K : 60 fps (which of course means new sensor)

The info above came entirely from my source and a little from nokishita kicking things off with some leaked info about the Fujifilm X-H1. Sure you can make some logical inferences from it and I could make some safe bets along with throwing some ranges out there, but I like to present my readers with the facts as I receive them, which is why I share portions of the E-mails I receive along with the rumors I post. It shows exactly the words my source used to relay the information, which could be a little off if English isn’t their first or primary language etc… Feel free to keep letting me know about rumors you come across and if you have any new details feel free to contact me with them too. I should also give credit to Letsgodigital because they have sent me a few patents, which aren’t relevant to this post, but it is always appreciated when sites help facilitate the spread of accurate Fujifilm information.

Fringer EF-FX Pro Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art AF Performance

Fringer released another Fringer EF-FX Pro demo today showing off the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art‘s autofocus performance. The Fringer EF-FX Pro seems to have very consistently fast AF performance thanks to the large phase detect autofocus area of the Fujifilm X-T2, but I hope the adapter is more stable than some of the other AF adapters I have tried. We should see a release from fringer soon with how many videos they have been releasing lately. The Fringer EF-FX Pro has come a long way.
