New Firmware (V2.70) Released For Fringer EF/FX Adapters

The new firmware is released.

V2.70 includes following improvements:

  1. Fixed PDAF issues for some of the following lens models: Lens didn’t get recognized by the adapter due to different lens firmware version.
  2. Fixed MO (Manual Override) support for some Sigma and Tamron lenses. When you turn focus ring and activate MO, the camera will be switched to manual focus mode. After you half press and release the shutter button, it will be switched back to AF mode automatically. Be noted, this works only when IS mode is set to “always on” and the lens’ MO function is switched on.
  3. Bug fixed: When the Pro version adapter works with variable aperture zoom lenses and some of the X cameras such as X-T3, the camera may become lag and not responsive after playback a photo and switch back to shooting mode.
  4. Added following lenses to the tested and optimized lens list:

Fujinon GF 100-200mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR Monster of Glass and More

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urOJhzfH4FY

There really haven’t been a lot of reviews for the Fujinon GF 100-200mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR yet and it’s unfortunate because the lens seems to be an incredible value. I hope we get to see more from this lens before it ships to help photographers decided if it is worth purchasing, but $2,000 for a medium format 100-200mm lens is actually pretty good value compared to some of the other GF lens prices at this time. I really want to try this lens myself, but I think I will purchase GF250mm lens sometime this year along with a 1.4TC.

Apotelyt Fujifilm X-T3 vs Olympus E-M1X Comparison

Apotelyt added the Olympus OM-D E-M1X to their comparison tool which makes it easy to see how Olympus’ new flagship camera compares to the Fujifilm X-T3. I think the Olympus E-M1X is going to be great, but Olympus needs to rethink their price point. Below you can see the highlights of how they compare, but for more details check out Apotelyt.

Reasons to prefer the Fujifilm X-T3:

  • More detail: Has more megapixels (26 vs 20.2MP), which boosts linear resolution by 16%.
  • Better image quality: Features bigger pixels on a larger sensor for higher quality imaging.
  • Richer colors: Larger pixels generate images with better, more accurate colors.
  • More dynamic range: Capable of capturing a wider spectrum of light and dark details.
  • Better low-light sensitivity: Can be used in poorly lit environments and still produce good images.
  • More detailed viewfinder: Has higher resolution electronic viewfinder (3690k vs 2360k dots).
  • Larger screen: Has a bigger rear LCD (3.2″ vs 3.0″) for image review and settings control.
  • More compact: Is smaller (133x93mm vs 144x147mm) and will fit more readily into a bag.
  • Less heavy: Has a lower weight (by 458g or 46 percent) and is thus easier to take along.
  • Faster data transfer: Supports a more advanced USB protocol (3.1 vs 3.0).
  • More affordable: Was introduced into a lower priced category (50 percent cheaper at launch).
  • More heavily discounted: Has been on the market for longer (launched in September 2018).

Advantages of the Olympus OM-D E-M1X:

  • High quality composites: Can combine several shots after pixel-shifting its sensor.
  • More flexible LCD: Has swivel screen for odd-angle shots in portrait or landscape orientation.
  • More selfie-friendly: Has an articulated screen that can be turned to be front-facing.
  • Faster burst: Shoots at higher frequency (18 vs 11 flaps/sec) to capture the decisive moment.
  • More portrait friendly: Features an integrated vertical grip for easier portrait shooting.
  • Longer lasting: Can take more shots (870 versus 390) on a single battery charge.
  • Sharper images: Has hand-shake reducing image stabilization built-in.
  • More modern: Is somewhat more recent (announced 4 months after the X-T3).
