Fujifilm Patent Shows New Camera Interface

Fujifilm improves their cameras more than anyone else via frequent firmware updates, but the latest patients found by dclife are very interesting ones because they are likely coming soon. Fujifilm film simulations are some of the best on the market, but it is often difficult to see how simulation might affect a photo.

Now it looks like Fujifilm will add an adjustable split-screen view to their RAW editor to help photographers pick the simulation that is best for them instead of processing the photo multiple times to compare later by flipping back and forth through your images. This kind of feature is overdue with how many simulations Fujifilm now provides users, but I think it would be even more interesting if you could use this feature before taking a photo for the ultimate purist. I think this tool could be useful in LiveView, but the patent doesn’t seem to hint at that functionality.

It would be great to see this feature come via a firmware update for the Fujifilm X-T4 in the future, but it is more likely for a larger screen camera like a Fujifilm X-A8/X-A9 since the Fujifilm X-A7 has a pretty large screen on it already at 3.5″ instead of 3.0″ or 3.2″. This could also be used on a new unknown camera like the Fujifilm X-H2 if they put a larger screen on the large body Fujifilm camera line.

Update: Turns out this is already on the X-T200 so it would be nice to see on future large screen cameras because this is useful to more than entry-level photographers.

Fujifilm Wonder Photo Shop NYC Closing Permanently

Fujifilm just sent out a notice that COVID-19 has forced them to close the NYC Fujifilm Wonder Photo Shop for good. I am glad I had the opportunity to visit it when I was last in NYC and it will be missed, but the pandemic is wrecking retail business in the United States right now so I am not surprised. Below is what they sent out:

Thank you for your ongoing support of the FUJIFILM Wonder Photo Shop in New York City as we’ve all continued to adjust to this “new normal”. Unfortunately, we have some sad news to share with you, our valued Wonder Photo Shop customers. We have decided to close the New York City store permanently, effective September 9, 2020. This unprecedented time in our history has allowed us to re-evaluate the Wonder Photo Shop model and while our New York City store is closing, we will be introducing a new omni-channel shopping experience, led by e-commerce, that will begin to roll-out October 2020. From there we intend to bring a new in-store experience to the US market at some point in 2021.

Having personal opportunities to connect with our customers is very important to us, and FUJIFILM North America Corporation is developing initiatives to ensure that you will have seamless access to the products you know and trust. Additionally, our social media channels will remain active, so together we can continue to share the joy of photography. We’ll also be updating our social channels with the latest exciting developments on what we have planned next for you.FA

If you are a FUJIFILM Wonder Photo Shop customer with a current order in the store, please contact [email protected] and we will work with you to fulfill your orders.

Thank you for your years of support and patronage of the FUJIFILM Wonder Photo Shop. Stay tuned for more information regarding our next consumer experience.

Sincerely,
The Wonder Photo Shop NYC staff

Fujinon XF50mm f/1 R LM WR Shortage Due to Better Than Expected Sales

Possibility of supply shortage for Fujifilm “XF 50mm F1.0 R WR”
Because more inquiries were received than expected

FUJIFILM Imaging Systems Co., Ltd. announced on September 8 that there is a possibility that the supply amount of the interchangeable lens “Fujinon lens XF50mm F1.0 R WR” for the mirrorless camera X series may be insufficient.

XF50mm F1.0 R WR is a single focus lens equivalent to 76mm in 35mm format. Supports AF while opening F1.0. It features a design that considers the softness of the background blur by leaving a slight spherical aberration.

The product is scheduled to be released on September 24, but it is possible that the product may not be delivered on the release date due to more inquiries than expected.
