DPR: Fujifilm XF 18mm f/1.4 R LM WR Gets the Gold

DPR posted its review of the Fujifilm XF 18mm f/1.4 R LM WR and it is no surprise that the lens earned a Gold award. Fujifilm glass is generally great, but this is one of the first lenses in a long time where Fujifilm has been making a big deal about it being designed for resolution and it seems to have paid off. You can read the full review here. I have to say even though I already have an XF16mm I am increasingly considering adding an XF18mm to my bag.

Venus Optic Laowa Argus 33mm f/0.95 Preorders and Samples

I just received the Venus Optic Laowa Argus 33mm f/0.95 a few days ago and it is a very nicely built lens that has some interesting character to it that I enjoy. It can flare quite a bit, but you can use the flare to drastically change the look of an image like below. Both time-lapse were of similar duration, but shifting the location of the camera a little removed the flare and allowed me to huge the satellite dish with the star trail from the north star. I really like the look of both, but there are a lot of great 0.95 lenses for X-mount at this time.

Fujifilm GFX100, GFX50S, GFX50R NP-T125 Generic Batteries and GFX Batteries Compared

Today I was asked if there are any more affordable batteries for the Fujifilm GFX100, GFX50S, and GFX50R, which made me realize I did not have an answer. So I looked and to my surprise there are a few third party NP-T125 generic batteries on the market at this time that haven’t been covered.

Better late than never, but it looks like the Fujifilm NP-W235 will be replacing the NP-T125 going forward with its higher capacity and more compact design. The Fujifilm NP-T125 only surpasses the specs of the NP-W235 by having a slightly higher voltage of 12.6V DC over the 7.2V DC the NP-W235 provides. This is why the GFX100S has very good battery life even though it only has one battery unlike the GFX100, which uses two.
