Unique 3D Printed Bespoke Wiggle Lens For X-Mount

A friend let me know about these lenses, but they sold out very quickly even though they were supposed to be available threw today. You can try your luck here, but they should announce another batch soon hopefully.

3D Stereoscopic Wiggle Lens for Sony E mount and Fuji X mount
Hey, folks. I’m excited to open the first round of bespoke small batch production run of my 3D printed 3D stereoscopic wiggle lens for Sony E mount in APS-c and Full-Frame, and for Fuji X mount!

My goal is to build up funds to purchase a used Canon RP to start working on finalizing the RF version (ATM they’re averaging $900 USD on eBay). So, how’s this going to work? I’ve 20 preorder slots for each version for a total of 60 preorder slots.

Pricing:

  • Pricing for the Full-Frame E mount is $80 USD shipped within the contiguous United States.
  • Pricing for the APS-C E Mount and X Mount is $70 USD shipped within the contiguous United States

If you live outside of the United States, and want to order one shoot me an email at [email protected] and I’ll figure out the cheapest way to ship it out to you.

Timeline:

  • March 8st – April 5th, 2021: Preorders open

  • April 12th, 2021: Production begins and orders will be shipped as they come off the printer in the order received. Once all orders are fulfilled, STL files will be available for sale along with an assembly video to help you along the way, and printed lens bodies (does not include lenses) will be available for purchase.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send them my way at [email protected]. Bookmark this page as I’ll be adding more content shortly. I know, I know, I’ve been on somewhat of a hiatus. There have been multiple projects I’ve been working on and finally have the clarity and time to start producing these lens adapters.

Samyang is Teasing Two New Lenses

Samyang is known for having some great glass for astrophotography so it is not surprising that they are teasing that these new lenses would be for Astro, but what they could be is a bit of a mystery. I hope these lenses are revisions of their current lenses, but faster than the lenses currently available. The lens is expected to be announced this month.

DPRTV: Fujifilm GFX100S Review

The Fujifilm GFX100S has tempted many to make the jump to medium format, but what does DPRTV think? Below is the summary:

  • Chris was upset to not get his hands on the preproduction GFX100S due to COVID
  • The new IBIS system in this camera is very good and makes it possible to handhold the 102MP monster
  • Of course, a tripod is best though
  • The grip is excellent
  • The camera is very lightweight and compact it feels like a full-frame DSLR
  • Lenses can get a little bulky, but there are compact options
  • The new dials and Joystick are better than the GFX100 body
  • Chris is happy the camera doesn’t have a verticle grip and Jordan wishes there was an optional grip
  • 4 function buttons that are customizable plus there was swipe options
  • Chris likes the AF-on buttons and Jordan doesn’t
  • Very comfortable and familiar handling that can be used by any photographer
  • Downgraded the EVF from the GFX100 to 3.69m dots which is ok, but the FPS should be better
  • No interchangable EVF
  • The rear touch screen is nice along with the LCD on the top
  • Chris misses the rear mini LCD from the GFX100
  • Nostalgic neg was something Chris really wanted to try
  • The 100MP sensor really justifies the higher cost over full frame
  • You can shoot 16-bit or 14-bit RAW
  • Chris recommends sticking with 14-bit RAW because you can shoot 5fps for 15 frames with it and the 16-bit files are a lot larger with little benifit
  • Pixel shift 16 shot gives you 400MP, but you have to post-process it to get the image
  • You need to be very stable to get the max resolution of this camera
  • Chris is able to use 1/focal length with the IBIS system to get sharp photos
  • Nicest AF of any medium format camera
  • Face and eye detection work very well
  • It’s a good idea to use a small single point when focusing
  • GFX100S is better than the GFX100 for video since it has a longer recording time
  • Haven’t tested ProResRAW yet since it is in flux
  • ProResRAW you can adjust the ISO and exposure, but not the white balance yet
  • On the GFX100 when you record externally there is bad lag that makes it hard to do quick pans
  • Fujifilm is known for meaningful updates so it should get better and we might see BlackMagic RAW
  • This is Chris’ favorite medium format camera to date
  • GFX100S does almost everything the GFX100 can do
  • The biggest difference between the GFX100S and GFX100 is the vertical grip and dual batteries
  • The GFX100S makes the GFX100 difficult to justify even though the GFX100S is still pricey
