Fujifilm X-H2 Wins EISA’s Best APS-C Camera Product 2023-2024

The Fujifilm X-H2 won EISA’s best APS-C Camera product for 2023-2024. Surprisingly Fujifilm did not win more awards, because they typically win a few, but Sony and Sony accessories cleaned up this year.

The Fujifilm X-H2 is a true hybrid camera with extensive video capabilities that offers the highest resolution available in the APS-C sensor format. Its 40-million-pixel X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor produces still images full of detail, and it can create 160MP files using its Pixel Shift Multi Shot Mode. It can also record 8K/30p video in 4:2:2 10-bit colour and supports both Apple ProRes and BlackMagic Raw output over HDMI. The X-Processor 5 enables subject-detection autofocus which recognises and tracks a broad range of subjects, while the 5-axis in-body image-stabilisation system offers up to 7 stops of compensation.

The Viltrox 27mm f/1.2 is still expected to launch in August on or after August 21st. Yet Reviews have been posted for weeks now on Youtube.

  • 1/3 stop aperture control ring
  • Moderate focus breathing
  • 67mm filter threat side
  • No IBIS
  • No AF/MF switch and cant be declicked
  • Very sharp even at f/1.2
  • f/16 diffraction
  • Viltrox lenses keep getting sharper
  • Low distortion but there is vignetting that is easy to correct
  • 28cm close focus distance
  • Sharp up close or far away
  • No Chroma issues even at f/1.2
  • Sunstars at f/8 but never great
  • Bokeh is good
  • There is some LoCA that is gone by f/2.8
  • One of the best lenses every made for X-Mount

Fujifilm jumps to the top of BCN camera rankings every now and again, which is making me wonder if supply chain issues dictate BCN rankings more than anything else. The Fujifilm X-T30II has been out for a while and it is a great camera, but it is a bit of a surprise that it topped BCN’s mirrorless camera sales chart this past July since it is typically dominated by Sony/Canon or new cameras that just launched.
