Three products and services win the Red Dot Design Award 2024 in the Brands & Communication Design category
Highly praised design of app and product packaging for palm-sized camera “instax Pal ™ “

FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yoshikazu Goto) is pleased to announce that three products and services have been awarded the Red Dot Design Award 2024 in the Brands & Communication Design category of the Red Dot Design Award 2024, sponsored by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, based in Essen, Germany. The awards are for the branding visual identity of the instax Pal ™ palm-sized camera *1 from the instax  “Cheki” series , including its dedicated app and product packaging, as well as the creation of a simple design that makes use of green gradation lines and white space using Fujifilm’s corporate color, Advanced Green.

The Red Dot Design Award is an international design award established in 1955, and is considered one of the world’s three major design awards, alongside the German iF design award and the American IDEA (International Design Excellence Award). The Red Dot Design Award consists of three categories: Product Design, Brands & Communication Design, and Design Concept. The Brands & Communication Design category is awarded to outstanding designs in categories such as branding, advertising, packaging, user interface (UI), and user experience (UX).

In the Product Design category of the Red Dot Design Award 2024 announced in April this year, 16 of our products, including the instax Pal  series , the mirrorless digital camera X/GFX series, and medical equipment, won the award. In addition, including the Brands & Communication Design category, a total of 19 of our products and services have won awards. In particular, instax Pal  received high marks in product design (target: product), user interface design (same: dedicated app), and package graphic design (same: product packaging). This is the first time that an item has been highly evaluated from multiple design perspectives and won awards in three design categories (product design category, user interface and packaging in the Brands & Communication category ) .

In developing all our products and services, we pursue functionality and performance, and we also work on design development that makes the most of those excellent functionality and performance. Going forward, we will continue to aim to create new value for our products by realizing designs that go beyond the beauty of the exterior design and highlight the functionality of each product and service.

New Godox AD200Pro II

Godox AD200Pro II: B&H Photo / Amazon

Godox announced the Godox AD200Pro II. The details are below:

Optimal Performance
The enhanced AD200Pro II TTL Pocket Flash from Godox is a versatile 200Ws flash with convenient and optimized features. Offering the same flexibility previously found in its predecessor, the AD200Pro II was developed with advanced capabilities to help you create a versatile and effective lighting setup. Just as its previous version, the Pro II includes a standard speedlite head and a bare bulb head to give you the option of two distinctly different qualities of light. Both flash heads are now in their latest improved versions – H200 II and H200J II. Power is variable from 1/512 to full power, while each flash head has a bi-color LED modeling light. Some other relevant upgrades of the AD200Pro II are uncomplicated wireless sync with an optional X3 trigger and group color indicator for easy identification.

Your Lighting Companion
The AD200Pro II offers full compatibility with several TTL systems including Canon, Nikon, Sony, FUJIFILM, Olympus, and Panasonic. All of its functions can not only be made manually on the unit but also wirelessly thanks to the Godox wireless X system. Remote operation requires separate purchase of a Godox trigger, such as the recommended X3, and the flash is also compatible with the X2, XPro, and XPro II models. The AD200Pro II body is compact and lightweight enough to become your ideal lighting companion in the studio or on location.

AD200Pro II Upgrades
Keeping some characteristics of its previous version, such as 200Ws and 0.01-0.8 sec recycling time for fast and reliable use, the AD200Pro II provides flash durations from 1/272 to 1/23,500 sec with its speedlite flash head, 1/252 to 1/16,200 sec with its bare bulb one, and a wider output range from 1/1 to 1/512. Settings are accessible via local buttons and displayed on the easy-to-read, upgraded TFT (thin-film-transistor) color screen for intuitive onboard control. Read More »

MAP Camera August Sales Rankings – Fujifilm X-T5 and X100VI Are The Top Sellers With X-T50 Coming 6th

Map Camera released its sales rankings for August and the Fujifilm X-T5 and X100VI topped the charts thanks to Fujifilm fulfilling demand. The Fujifilm X-T50 also remained in the top 10 coming in 6th over all. You can find the rankings and their statements below:

The FUJIFILM X-T5 has made a huge comeback from being unranked last time! It has taken the top spot. The supply shortage for the X-T5 started to show signs of being resolved around the end of July. Due to the shortage, it was only able to improve its ranking last time, at 12th place, but this time it has made a remarkable comeback to the top spot. The lens kit with the new XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R LM WR that has been added to the lineup has been particularly popular, accounting for more than half of the total sales.

The X-T5 will be released in November 2022. It is very popular, and because of that, the manufacturer was unable to keep up with the supply soon after its release. At one point, orders were even stopped being accepted. It has been about a year and a half since its release, but it seems that the supply has been unstable for a long time.
In the meantime, many attractive new models have been released by other manufacturers, and the company’s own younger brother, the X-T50, has been released with much fanfare. There were concerns that even if the supply stabilized, there would be no room for it to rank higher, but this time it has brilliantly overturned such expectations.
Its popularity can be seen from the fact that it recorded more than twice the sales volume of the X-T50, which came in 6th place. Let’s hope that the supply will continue to be stable and it will be able to make up for its losses so far.

Coming in second place is the FUJIFILM X100VI. This model also jumped up from 11th place, which was not ranked last time. However, we are still unable to accept new reservations for the X100VI, and we can only sell the number of units we receive after an announcement is made when we have them in stock. Even if we do receive a certain amount of stock, they sell out in an instant. I hope that, like the X-T5 and X-T50, customers who want to purchase this model will be able to get them quickly and without stress…

In sixth place is the FUJIFILM X-T50. It debuted in first place in June, and was also in second place after the Z6III in July, but this time it has dropped to sixth place.
As I mentioned earlier, it is also interesting that the sales volume was less than half that of the X-T5, which was in first place this time. It seems that the supply of the X-T5 has stabilized, so sales have been diverted to that model. The X-T50 has the same sensor and image processing engine as the higher-end X-T5, and is more advanced in terms of functionality, but the fact that the price is not that different from the X-T5 may be a bottleneck. A manufacturer campaign began on August 22nd, offering a cashback of 35,000 yen for simultaneous purchases of the target lens (XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R LM WR) during the period. (Up to purchases by December 31, 2024) Let’s look forward to seeing what kind of effects will emerge in the future.
