Kipon EF-GFX E and Contax645-EF AF

Kipon is releasing Canon and Contax 645 adapters for the Fujifilm GFX. The Contax 645 AF sounds like the Fringer adapter. I will try to get more details, but Kipon makes some really nice stuff and is even offering a discount if you buy both adapters. The EF-GFX E will start shipping Monday.

Fujifilm Re-Launches Long Standing Fujifilm Masterpiece Award Program

FUJIFILM RE-LAUNCHES LONG STANDING FUJIFILM MASTERPIECE AWARD PROGRAM
Valhalla, N.Y., July 21, 2017 – FUJIFILM North America Corporation, is pleased to announce the re-launch of the long standing Fujifilm sponsored Masterpiece Award on August 1, 2017. This award will be available to all members of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), State and District Affiliates in the United States and Canada, as well as, IPC of PPA and National PPA print competitions.

The Fujifilm 2017 Masterpiece Award will be awarded to a PPA members residing in the U.S.A and Canada in each of three separate categories – wedding, portrait and illustrative – whose work best represents the specific category of photography.

“With over 80 years of heritage in photography the Masterpiece Award underscores Fujifilm’s commitment to supporting and recognizing photographic excellence. Fujifilm is proud to honor photographers who strive to create images of excellence and distinction, and to be working with Professional Photographers of America (PPA) to recognize these incredibly distinguished professionals,” said Manny Almeida, Imaging Division President, FUJIFILM North America Corporation.

Fujinon XF80mm LM OIS WR Macro 1:1 Details Were Leaked in January

When I reported the new GFX lenses earlier this month I cut off the beginning of the email because I was simply checking up on the Fujinon XF80mm LM OIS WR Macro 1:1 coming and making sure there was no confusion, since I received tips from readers about some a GFX rumor so I wanted to go right to my source for clarification. Thankfully it resulted in a GFX information dump for all of us. Once again I am receiving msgs about an up coming lens so I will simply post the details that we had in January, which other sites are now reporting as new.

Theo Georghiades General Manager, Fujifilm UK Interview, which is broken up into two parts. The video above is part one and starts in the middle since the first half is primarily Canon landscape work, with a little bit of GFX talk in the middle when they go to print some images. Part two will be released next month.

  • Joined Fujifilm in 1999 with a degree in digital photography
  • Digital photography evolved from the compact market into a bridge camera
  • Fujifilm was the first to release a high-end compact camera Finepix 4700, which was the first SuperCCD camera
  • It had octagonal pixels instead of square
  • They had the first removable memory card
  • Fujifilm was always part of the professional market, especially medium format
  • The Fujix was one of the first interchangeable cameras that Fujifilm developed with Nikon
  • When they decided to go into the DSLR market they developed their first DSLRs with Nikon.
  • Then Fujifilm developed the X system during a time when mirrorless wasn’t meant for professional and they designed their cameras for them.
  • X100 was designed to be a camera that a smart phone couldn’t compete with
  • X-Pro1 discussion started right after success of the X100 because they weren’t sure how it would be received
  • When they showed the X100 at Photokina and everyone liked it they knew it would be a hit and it helped them transition away from compact cameras at the right time with the X-Pro1, which was originally just going to be an interchangeable X100.
