instax Wide Monochrome Shipping Nov 1st

It looks like today is all about Instax announcements and Bestbuy leaked instax Wide Monochrome a little early. This film would be great in a Lomography Lomo’Instant Wide Camera. Too bad there isn’t a hint of an Instax Share S-P4 wide printer… Yes please Fujifilm. I am pretty sure it would be in the app by now though. B&H Photo / Amazon / Adorama should have instax Wide Monochrome soon.

Fujifilm Launches “instax SHARE SP-3”, A Smartphone-Compatible Printer Capable of Printing Square Format

Fujifilm launches “instax SHARE SP-3”, a smartphone-compatible printer capable of printing square format

Featuring new functions such as “My Template” for producing original prints

FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Kenji Sukeno) will launch the instax SHARE SP-3 (SP-3), a smartphone-compatible printers capable of printing images taken on smartphones on November 17, 2017. This is the new product in the instax SHARE series compatible with square format instax films.

In July 2016, Fujifilm launched the instax SHARE-SP2 (SP-2), a printer capable of the quick and easy output on card-sized instax film from a smartphone using an instax SHARE app*. Responding to customers’ demand for a device that can produce instax prints of images shared among friends on social media or images adjusted for colors and ambience using image processing apps, SP-2 won significant popularity particularly among young people around the world.

The new SP-3 maintains the series’ emphasizing on the quick and easy printing of high-quality images, and becomes capable of printing images in the instax SQUARE Film format which has been well received since its launch in May this year. Photographers have long considered compositions that take advantage of the square format’s 1:1 aspect ratio as an artistic expression, and smartphone users have adopted the general use of square format images on social media apps such as Instagram**. Recently, growing numbers of people are expressing themselves through square format images, which are carefully produced on all aspects from composition considerations through to the editing and processing of the final image. These images are widely shared on social media. With SP-3, anyone can enjoy printing and giving images to a friend or putting images on the walls of their room. Read More »

instax SHARE App Updated Ahead of Instax SP-3 Announcement

Fujifilm updated their Instax SHARE App today (iOS, Android) in advance of the Instax SP-3 announcement, which is expected tomorrow. I am really enjoying the Instax Square format with my family and hope they announce an Instax Wide format printer soon. While these printers pair well with Fujifilm cameras they work even better with smartphones. The Instax SQ10 might not be the serious Instax camera that some hoped for, but the format is much better than Instax mini for young photographers and sharing.

CSTV: Fujifilm X-E3 Review

Camera Store TV reviewed the Fujifilm X-E3 and they liked it, but would likely pick the X-T20 over the X-E3. The price is just too close, but it really depends on your preferences. Chris prefers the Fujifilm X-T20’s manual controls to the X-E3’s more menu driven controls.

Positives

  • One of the most beautiful Fujifilm Cameras
  • Very minimalistic and small
  • EVF off to the side
  • Great walk around/companion camera
  • Easy to navigate menus
  • Great AF-C
  • No crop for video

Negatives

  • Screen does not rotate
  • No 4-way controller on the back
  • Slow EVF eye sensor
  • Having to use Joystiq to navigate menus
  • No built-in flash
  • Video is a little soft

Lensrentals: Fujinon Lens Rentals Increase By 96% In 2017 Canon And Nikon Decreased 8% And 10%

Lensrentals gave FStoppers some insight into their 2017 rental request and the results are quite surprising. Canon is still the number one system by far, followed by… Sony, which has surpassed Nikon. Specifically:

“Sigma continues to gain ground, having become 20 percent more popular than in 2016. Fuji lenses skyrocketed, showing 96 percent more rentals. Sony lenses also increased 22 percent, while Canon and Nikon decreased 8 and 10 percent, respectively. “

This data might explain why the Fujinon sales have been lackluster lately. Fujifilm and Sony seem to be doing quite well, while Canon and Nikon are starting to lose some steam. Even the most recent sale, which is similar to Fujifilm’s old sales isn’t very good with the exception of GFX gear. That being said the GFX sales won’t last very so take advantage of them while you can.
