FUJIFILM Camera Remote Update Coming in May With New Features

FUJIFILM Camera Remote will be updated in May with some interesting new features according to the Fujiflim X-E3 release notes.

Enhanced Bluetooth® connectivity via “FUJIFILM Camera Remote” app.
The upgrade allows users to utilize the following functions with the latest “FUJFIILM Camera Remote” app.
1) The upgrade allows users to select multiple smartphones or tablet devices by paring the cameras.(Up to 7 devices)
2) Update the firmware*1 of compatible cameras that offer Bluetooth® capability via smartphone or tablet devices.
3) It supports Bluetooth® wireless remote control camera shutter release*1 for cameras that offer Bluetooth capability.

*1:An upgrade to the “FUJIFILM Camera Remote” that will be available in May 2018 is required to operate firmware update and camera shutter release.” – Fujifilm

It sounds like Bluetooth enabled cameras and maybe devices will be firmware updatable via the app going forward, which will likely require a major overhaul of the Fujifilm app. Let’s hope Fujifilm improves their app going forward because it has been a weak spot for them in an otherwise strong system. The Fujifilm X-E3, X-A5, and X-H1 should all gain this capability along with all future Bluetooth enabled cameras and devices.

Meyer-Optik-Goerlitz: Again, in the leading position for available light photography
Already in the 1920s, Meyer brought lenses to market which were the fastest lenses of their time: the Kinoplasmat 75/f1. 5. Later the Primoplan 1.9/58 was to become the fastest standard lens for the famous Exakta camera, which was sold in the USA as “Kine night Exakta”. At this time Meyer-Optik Goerlitz was considered as the most prominent manufacturer of available light lenses, so called “giants of light” and in 2016 the company presented the Nocturnus 0.95/50 mm for the first time now available in its third version.
Now Meyer is following the legacy of creating the fastest 75mm lens in the world like it once did with the Kinoplasmat. The Nocturnus 0.95/75 mm lens is a full format lens available for Sony E, Fuji X and Leica M. The company also intends to follow with a 35mm lens later in order to complete its Nocturnus line. Notification For Fringer Contax645-GFX Smart Adapter Users

For those Fringer GFX fans out there fringe issued a warning for the Fringer Contax 645-GFX Smart Adapter. Some Arca style quick release clamps might not fully tighten on the adapters foot. So make sure that your adapter is compatible before risking your Fujifilm GFX.

Dear Fringer Contax 645-GFX adapter users,

According to a couple of users’ feedback, with very low possibilities, the foot (tripod mount) of the adapter may not be fully compatible with some of the Arca style quick release clamps in the market. It may not be tight and secure enough even the screw is tightened. Because we have to take care of handheld usage as well, there are no safety stop screws under the foot. Thus, if you mount the foot directly to a Arca style quick release clamp, make sure it’s installed tightly and securely. Or you may consider installing an additional quick release plate with safety stop screws to the food through a 1/4″ screw. Then install the quick release plate to the clamp.
