FUJIFILM ANNOUNCES THE NEW GETPIX DASH PHOTO KIOSK, A SLEEK AND AFFORDABLE PLATFORM THAT ENABLES PRINTING FROM MOBILE DEVICES
Valhalla, N.Y., June 1, 2018 – As a leader in imaging innovation, FUJIFILM North America Corporation today announced the launch of the new GetPix DASH photo kiosk, a low cost platform for photo printing from mobile devices without the need for cables or a dedicated App. Offering a flexible countertop or floor-standing pedestal, the GetPix DASH takes up minimal space, making it ideal for small businesses and retail spaces.

According to Info Trends, over 1.2 trillion photos are taken every year, the majority of which are taken with mobile devices. The GetPix DASH’s ease of use is an excellent way for consumers to print images from their smartphones, allowing them to display and share special captured memories. Users simply upload their images to mygetpix.com and visit the nearest GetPix DASH photo kiosk. Once at the kiosk, they then enter the code received after uploading their images and are ready to print their photos. Utilizing the ASK-300 dye-sublimation printer, the GetPix DASH platform offers quality photos in a matter of seconds.

“We are excited to bring this new kiosk platform to the market”, said Manny Almeida, President of the Imaging Division at FUJIFILM North America Corporation. “With its low price point and extremely easy access to mobile images, the GetPix DASH will open doors to different channels and allow consumers to more easily make prints from their mobile images.” Read More »

Fujifilm X-T3: Fujifilm Registered a New Charger That Might Indicate a New Battery

Nokishita spotted a new battery charger registered by Fujifilm in Korea the BC-W126S. This could be an updated design for charging the current NP-W126S, but I know everyone wants it to be a sign that Fujifilm is releasing a new battery for the Fujifilm X-T3 like Sony did with their Z-Batteries. If we are going to see a new battery from Fujifilm soon it will most likely be in the Fujifilm X-T3 since it is the beginning of Fujifilm’s next generation of cameras.

The Fujifilm X-T3 will let us know what to expect from future cameras like the Fujifilm X-Pro3 and Fujifilm X-H2 since it is Fujifilm’s first completely new camera since the release of the Fujifilm X-Pro2. It’s highly likely that Fujifilm designed a new battery for the X-T3 due to the criticism and problems Fujifilm had with their current batteries. The release of the Fujifilm NP-W126S which matched the NP-W126 battery caused a lot of confusion that could have been avoided by just releasing a new battery with the Fujifilm X-T2 or X-H1.

DPReview TV: Fujifilm X-T100 Review

Chris and Jordan of DPReview tested the Fujifilm X-T100 and found it to be a great camera for people looking to get into photographer. It’s a camera that can grow with you in their opinion and I agree, but I found it interesting that they brought up X-Trans. Fujifilm does seem to be pushing away from X-Trans with quite a few of their cameras and it could be a sign of things to come.

I think X-Trans and the unique processing needed to make it presentable adds a little something to the Fujifilm look, but they have managed to maintain the look in cameras like the Fujifilm GFX50S so maybe we will have fewer X-Trans cameras going forward as pixel count goes up. I know some have looked forward to its retirement, while others have clung to it for no go reason.

Pros
Top left dial default of color profiles is programmable
The EVF and LCD are good for the price point
The LCD articulation is one of the best out there
Good graphic interface for menus
The new colors are great
Great with and without the grip
Built-in flash with decent power
Bluetooth/Wifi
430 shots per charge
XC15-45 focuses very smoothly
Improved AF over Fujifilm X-A5
Close to Canon Rebel performance
X-Trans not really needed today
Mic Jack
Reasonable 1080p
Good build quality
Very enjoyable to use
X-T100 > Canon EOS M50

Cons
No ACROS
Few steps in the XC15-45 zoom that bug Chris
Quick menu needs updating
The little nipple that covers the grip screw is easy to lose
The plastic dial on the back is in a weird position and can’t be customized
Quick menu button should be customizable to AF on and FN to the quick menu
Laggy touchscreen
XC15-45 is very plasticy
4k15p is basically useless but cleaner than 1080p
Bad Record button
