Jacques Gaines: Fuji Guy Francis Bellefeuille Interview – Full Frame Will Never Happen So Stop Asking and More

Jacques Gaines caught up with Fuji Guy Francis Bellefeuille and asked him two questions that people keep asking. The first is if Fujifilm will ever go Full Frame and if you follow Fujifilm closely you know the answer is a resounding never. The other question that is asked a lot is why should you buy a Fujifilm X-H1 if the X-T3 is a technologically better camera? Below are some excerpts and the second question:

  • Fujifilm doesn’t need Full Frame and it’s why they went to medium format
  • APS-C and Full Frame are too close
  • The Full Frame market is too over saturated
  • Fujifilm has a very strong APS-C system and they keep pushing the market
  • Fujifilm is driving the APS-C market forward with things like the ability to record 4k60 10-bit in camera before anyone else
  • Sticking with APS-C also keeps their customer base from having to switch lenses later for a different sensor size
  • There isn’t a big difference in image quality between APS-C and Full Frame
  • Fujifilm noise is more like a texture than artifacts so it’s not offensive
  • WE WILL NEVER GO FULL FRAME

Francis Bellefeuille didn’t want to answer the second question about why you should buy the X-H1 over X-T3, but he did his best. I personally applaud Fujifilm for not chasing after other camera companies and I hope they can get the GFX to be competitive with mirrorless Full Frame cameras like the Sony a7RIII.

  • The Fujifilm X-T3 is a beast and a nice attack on the video market
  • X-H1 is a tank that you can beat the *beep* out of it
  • 25% thicker magnesium so you can knock it around more
  • IBIS for the first time in a Fujifilm Camera
  • X-H1 is our we can do IBIS camera
  • The first camera that they could do video seriously
  • IBIS and Ruggedness are it’s only stand out features
  • X-H1 can take a lot of rain and more
  • X-T3 can’t take as much rain
  • Both handle the cold the same

Cinema5D: Fujifilm X-T3/X-H1 Firmware Update Interview

Cinema5D interviewed the head product planner for the Fujifilm X-T and X-H cameras about the new firmware update that is coming in December. Below are some excerpts:

  • X-T3 sales are pretty good compared to X-T2/X-H1 sales
  • Fujifilm’s impression is that 80% of users are still photographers in 20% record video
  • 4 gig file size limitation is being removed in the new firmware update
  • Hyrbird log gamma recording
  • Easy shooting 4K HDR that’s like using film simulation so it won’t need much editing
  • Recording to HDMI and SD card update
  • Currently, you record F-Log or film simulation to both
  • Now you can independently record F-Log and/or film simulation
  • So you can record HDMI F-Log and SD Card Film Simulation if you want
  • X-H1 now has hybrid image stabilization that uses IBIS and optical image stabilization together

Fuji Guys: Fujifilm SQ20 First Look

The Fuji Guys take a first look at the new Fujifilm Instax SQ20 and compare it to the old Fujifilm SQ10, which is still a great Instax Square camera. Below are some excerpts:

  • Replacement for the SQ10 with minor changes
  • Two colors matte black and beige
  • Selfie mirror on the front
  • Internal memory for about 50 shots
  • microSD slot
  • LED Flash
  • Built-in internal battery that’s good for about 100 prints
  • Preview shot before you print
  • On and off switch on the back instead of the front
  • Instax Square Film
  • Dual shutter release so it’s left and right-handed
  • Short video clip feature that you can take stills from
  • Slightly smaller screen than the SQ10
  • Digital Zoom using the front of the lens, but there is more than enough resolution for 4x prints

  • Edit image after taking it in camera

Ya Mei Technology TP Original Fujifilm X-T3/X-T2 Cases

Fujinon XF 200mm f2 OIS WR Round-up

Now that the Fujinon XF200mm is shipping there are a few new reviews out worth sharing. So far I have only come across two complaints from reviewers about the XF200mm. The First is that the XF200mm does not have a drop in filter like other lenses its size so you have to buy a big 105mm filter if you want to use one. The Second complaint is a less valid complaint and it comes from full-frame DSLR users that like to review Fujifilm camera, they wish that Fujifilm didn’t use a crop sensor. Beyond that everyone seems pretty happy with the XF200 even though few will purchase theFujinon XF200mm f/2 R LM OIS WR.
