More Adobe Enhanced Coverage From an X-Photographer

I posted some of the first X-Trans files with enhanced details on the day Lightroom 8.2 was launched and many agreed that you really can not tell the difference. Above Sean McCormack gives another take on Lightroom’s new enhanced detail feature and talks a little about the demosaicing.

In the video, you really can’t tell how the images have improved, but Sean claims to see very slight differences when zooming in on his 5k screen. I have read similar comments that on retina displays you can notice a slight difference, but no one has clearly proven the process to be better, which makes the additional rendering time and storage costs a little hard to swallow. It’s also unclear how much of the additional “detail” is real or fake detail.

Adobe probably should have made this into a less prominent feature until their enhancement tool clearly improved image quality while keeping file sizes reasonable. If the tool ever gets to that point it might be worth the additional render time to apply the enhancement tool to ever image imported, but until then I am not impressed and many others agree.

There are just too many other great options out there today from ON1, Skylum, Affinity Photo, Alienskin, Iridient Digital, Phaseone, Apple Photos and more.

Fujifilm FF180005 Registered: Most Likely Fujifilm GFX100

Nokishita spotted the FF180005 being registered for its Bluetooth chip. They believe it is the Fujifilm GFX100 being registered, but it could be another camera update. We will see very soon and some of our wallets are going to hurt pretty bad soon if it’s the GFX100.
