Fujifilm launches “FUJINON XF70-300mmF4-5.6 R LM OIS WR”

TOKYO, January 27, 2021 — FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Kenji Sukeno) is pleased to announce the launch of the “FUJINON Lens XF70-300mmF4-5.6 R LM OIS WR” (XF70-300mmF4-5.6 R LM OIS WR) in March 2021. It will be a new addition to the lineup of interchangeable XF lenses designed for X Series of mirrorless digital cameras, providing a compact lightweight design and outstanding image quality with Fujifilm’s proprietary color reproduction technology.

The XF70-300mmF4-5.6 R LM OIS WR extends from a medium telephoto 70mm to ultra telephoto 300mm (equivalent to 107mm-457mm in the 35mm format). It covers wide range of telephoto shooting scenes in spite of its small lightweight design measuring 132.5mm long and weighing approximately 580g. It comprises a powerful image stabilization system, suitable for sports, nature and other photography.

The XF70-300mm F4-5.6 R LM OIS WR is a zoom lens that enables users to shoot up to ultra telephoto 300mm range (equivalent to 457mm in the 35mm format). It offers compatibility with teleconverters “XF2X TC WR” and “XF1.4X TC WR” capable of multiplying the focal length of a mounted lens. When combined with the XF2X TC WR, focal length may be extended up to 600mm (equivalent to 914mm in the 35mm format). Moreover, the XF70-300mmF4-5.6 R LM OIS WR delivers macro photography capability ideal for enlarging plants, insects and other small subjects, affording users the opportunity to enjoy diverse photographic expressions. The lens design maximizes advantages offered by the X Mount* with APS-C size sensor to achieve a small lightweight design approximately 580g and 132.5mm in length. It also has a 5.5-stop image stabilization system, making it easy to carry around for handheld shooting. In addition, the linear motor delivers fast AF shooting to instantaneously focus on even moving subjects, allowing users to capture decisive moment.

Today, Fujifilm also announced the launch of a standard prime lens “FUJINON Lens XF27mmF2.8 R WR”. With the XF70-300mmF4-5.6 R LM OIS WR and XF27mmF2.8 R WR joining the extensive lens lineup, Fujifilm offers lenses that cover a wide range of focal lengths to complement photographic pleasure delivered by the X Series.

1. Product features
(1) Ultra telephoto zoom lens covering a wide range of shooting scenes for diverse photographic expressions

• The lens consists of 17 lens elements in 12 groups, including one aspherical lens and two ED lenses and has the focal length from medium telephoto 70mm to ultra telephoto 300mm (equivalent to 107mm-457mm in the 35mm format).
• It offers compatibility with teleconverters “XF2X TC WR” and “XF1.4X TC WR.” When combined with the XF2X TC WR, the focal length is extended up to 140mm-600mm (equivalent to 213mm-914mm in the 35mm format).

The XF70-300mmF4-5.6 R LM OIS WR has a minimum shooting distance of 83cm (entire zoom range) and maximum magnification ratio of ×0.33 (equivalent to approx. ×0.5 in the 35mm format) to create dynamic macro photography. It has the capability to shoot the entire surface of a subject the same size as a credit card to create dynamic images capturing plants, insects and other small subjects. When combined with the XF2X TC WR, maximum magnification ratio is increased to ×0.66 (equivalent to actual size in the 35mm format).

(2) Small and lightweight for outstanding mobility

• The XF70-300mmF4-5.6 R LM OIS WR has a maximum outer diameter of 75mm, measuring length of 132.5mm and weight of approximately 580g. It offers outstanding mobility for shooting sporting events, airplanes, trains, wildlife and other moving subjects. In addition, when used with “FUJINON Lens XF16-80mmF4 R OIS WR” and digital camera “FUJIFILM X-S10”, users have the capability to take images of a wide range from wide-angle 16mm to ultra telephoto 300mm (equivalent to 24-457mm in the 35mm format) with the camera system that together weighs under 1,500g.

(3) 5.5-stop image stabilization system

• The powerful 5.5-stop image stabilization system makes it easier to take telephoto shots, which are susceptible to camera shake.
• In combination with the FUJIFILM X-T4, FUJIFILM X-S10 or other camera with in-body image stabilization system, users will have five-axis image stabilization capability. The image stabilization system controls shift shake, which often occurs during macro photography, so that the user can take sharp contrast images.

(4) Fast and quiet AF

• The linear-motor drive system delivers fast and quiet AF. Users can capture decisive moment as the XF70-300mmF4-5.6 R LM OIS WR has the capability to instantaneously focus on even quick-moving subjects at sports events or other situations. The fast AF even works in combination with teleconverters “XF1.4X TC WR” or “XF2X TC WR” so users can enjoy shooting with the XF70-300mmF4-5.6 R LM OIS WR.

(5) Dust and weather resistance capable of operating at low temperatures

• The lens barrel is weather-sealed in 10 points to ensure dust and weather resistance, enabling users to shoot with stability even in tougher environments during a sudden weather and a dusty location, and even at temperatures of down to -10℃.

The XF27mmF2.8 R WR is a standard prime lens with focal length of 27mm (equivalent to 41mm in the 35mm format). It offers outstanding resolution in a compact design. The dust and weather resistant structure provides durability and the aperture ring offers excellent operability so that users can enjoy high-quality photography in a wide range of shooting scenes including snapshots, portraits, and landscape photography.

The XF27mmF2.8 R WR has a focal length of 27mm (equivalent to 41mm in the 35mm format) and is highly versatile with the capability to depict subjects in a natural perspective. It has excellent resolution, which has received outstanding reviews with the previous model “FUJINON Lens XF27mm F2.8.” The XF27mmF2.8 R WR has the capability to capture subjects down to the finest detail. The compact design is the thinnest and lightest in the XF lens lineup* , weighing approximately 84g and just 23mm long. When mounted on the compact and lightweight mirrorless digital camera “FUJIFILM X-E4” which was also announced today, it offers high portability so the users can walk around and take photos with it. Operability and durability have been improved over the previous models thanks to the aperture ring which enables quick aperture value changes, a newly adopted dust and weather resistance and the ability to operate at low temperatures of down to -10℃. With this lens, users have the stability to continue shooting even in tougher environments such as in the light rain or harsh dusty outdoors.

Today, Fujifilm also announced the launch of super telephoto zoom lens “FUJINON Lens XF70-300mmF4-5.6 R LM OIS WR” (XF70-300mmF4-5.6 R LM OIS WR). With the XF27mmF2.8 R WR and XF70-300mmF4-5.6 R LM OIS WR joining extensive lens lineup, Fujifilm offers lenses that cover a wide range of focal lengths to complement photographic pleasure delivered by the X Series.

1. Product features
(1) Excellent resolution in a compact design

• The XF27mmF2.8 R WR consists of seven lens elements in five groups, including one aspherical lens that controls spherical aberration, field curvature and distortion aberration to achieve astonishing image sharpness. It has high resolution from the fully open aperture to deliver sharp images capturing even the finest details of subjects.
• The focus system, which shifts the five elements of the lens front group, controls aberrations due to shooting distance. The XF27mmF2.8 R WR has a powerful DC motor delivering fast and accurate autofocus, making it easy for users to take high-quality photos.
• This latest addition to the XF lens lineup* has outstanding resolution in a compact design that is the thinnest and lightest weighing approximately 84g and 23mm long. It offers excellent portability and is easy to carry around while mounted on a mirrorless digital camera. The reassuring presence helps users encourage subjects to express themselves naturally for portraits and other photography.

(2) Aperture ring provides easy operability

• The XF27mmF2.8 R WR has an aperture ring with an F-stop scale. The aperture setting can be quickly checked and changed, indicating how effective this lens is for quick snapshots when settings must be aligned instantaneously.
• The A (auto) Position Lock** offers reliable operation, locking the aperture ring in place to avoid any unintentional adjustment during shooting.

• **Turning the aperture ring from F16 to the A position, locks it in position. It will be unlocked by holding down the unlock button and turning from A position to F16.

(3) Highly robust performance

• The lens barrel is weather-sealed in seven points to ensure dust and weather resistance. It also operates at temperatures of down to -10℃. This lens enables to users to continue shooting outdoors even during a sudden rain.

The X-E4 is the most compact and most lightweight of all mirrorless digital cameras equipped with the Series’ fourth-generation image sensor and image processing engine. The beautiful camera body in a classical design carries a fast and accurate autofocus (AF) as fast as 0.02 seconds. It boasts exceptional operability, producing high-quality images with the company’s proprietary color reproduction technology.

The X-E4 is a mirrorless digital camera that caters to a wide range of lifestyles and situations, making it a perfect choice for those who want to carry a camera around anywhere and anytime to enjoy photo shootings of an advanced quality.

The compact X-E4 offers exceptional portability, weighing approximately 364g*, or approximately 448g even when it is mounted with the standard prime lens “FUJINON Lens XF27mm R WR,” also announced today.

The X-E4’s beautifully classical body features the 26.1MP “X-Trans™ CMOS 4”** sensor and the high-speed “X-Processor 4” image processing engine, which are also featured in models including the X Series’ flagship model “FUJIFILM X-T4.” Its fast and accurate AF can attain focus in as fast as 0.02 seconds, ensuring that users capture decisive photo opportunities. 1. Product features

(1) Compact and lightweight camera body in a stunning design

• The rear LCD monitor can be stored flush in the back panel. The result is the most compact (W121.3mm x H72.9mm x D32.7mm) and most lightweight (approximately 364g) model among mirrorless digital cameras equipped with the X Series’ fourth generation image sensor and image processing engine. It can be carried anywhere in a bag for outstanding portability.
• The top panel is made of magnesium, a highly rigid metal that is difficult to process. The use of a high-precision mold has led to sharp and streamlined edges. Both the front and rear grips are flat to create a beautifully classical design which reminds the traditional film cameras.

(2) Equipped with the latest image sensor and image processing engine

• The X-E4 is equipped with the back-illuminated 26.1MP “X-Trans™ CMOS 4” sensor with on-sensor phase detection pixels as well as the “X-Processor 4” high-speed image processing engine to enable fast AF as fast as 0.02 seconds. This ensures users capture decisive moments, making it a powerful tool for snapshots.
• The camera features a highly accurate tracking AF system, capable of accurately tracking a subject that is moving either toward the camera or away from the camera. Its exceptional Face / Eye Detection AF function keeps a moving subject’s face / eyes in focus, allowing users to focus on framing while shooting.
• The AF system can operate in low light conditions, even in near darkness at -7.0EV***, attaining an accurate focus in poorly-lit indoors.

• ***The minimum AF luminance of -7.0EV is achieved when the camera is mounted with the FUJINON Lens XF50mmF1.0 R WR.

(3) Fujifilm’s unique Film Simulation for diverse photo expressions

• The X-E4 offers a total of 18 modes in Fujifilm’s proprietary Film Simulation function, including the vivid and high-contrast “Velvia” and high-contrast yet low-saturation “ETERNA Bleach Bypass,” which simulates the “bleach bypass”*4 darkroom technique to produce a solemn atmosphere. Users can pick and choose different styles to suit a subject or shooting scene as if to remove and insert a different roll of photographic film. Colors and tonal effects can be checked on the LCD monitor or the viewfinder, contributing to shortening time required for post-processing.

(4) Superior operability

• The X-E4 features a tilting rear LDC monitor, accommodating various shooting styles, from high and low angles. The monitor can be flipped 180 degrees upwards for easy self-portrait.
• The top panel of the camera body has the Shutter Speed Dial, allowing users to check the shutter speed setting without having to turn the camera on and smoothly move on to the next shots. This camera’s Shutter Speed Dial newly features the Program (P) position, in which the camera automatically chooses the optimum combination of shutter speed and aperture settings to take high-quality images with ease.
• The functions offered by the rear dial in the current model, FUJIFILM X-E3, are reassigned to the front dial to secure enough space for resting the thumb when holding the camera for comfort and streamlined operation.

(5) Extensive video-recording functions

• The X-E4 generates 4K video from the amount of data equivalent to 6K to ensure the footage is in high resolution with low noise. It supports recording 4K/30P video at 8-bit 4:2:0 onto an SD card inserted in the camera, and outputting 4K/30P video at 10-bit 4:2:2, containing greater color information, via the HDMI port.
• The camera is also capable of high-speed Full-HD recording at 240fps, producing up to 10x slow-motion footage of a split-second motion of a fast-moving subject.

2. Optional accessories
(1) Leather case “BLC-XE4” (designed specifically for the X-E4)
This is a genuine leather bottom case that provides protection to the camera body while accentuating its stunning linear design. Its advanced features include the ability to change the battery without having to remove the camera from the case.

(2) Hand grip “MHG-XE4” (designed specifically for the X-E4)
This metal hand grip makes it substantially more comfortable to hold the camera. It helps reduce camera shake when shooting with a large-aperture lens. The camera’s battery or SD card can be replaced without having to remove the hand grip.

(3) Thumb rest “TR-XE4” (designed specifically for the X-E4)
This metal thumb-resting grip is installed at the top part of the camera body, providing a thumb rest for a firm grip. The part where the thumb comes in contact is coated with rubber non-slip strip to control camera shake even when shooting with one hand. Users can rotate camera dials without having to remove the TR-XE4, offering operating comfort and enhanced grip at the same time. It is available in black or silver to match color variations of the X-E4.
