Fujinon XF70-300mm f/4-5.6 Now Shipping

The Fujinon XF70-300mm f/4-5.6 is now shipping. I just received notice that my CC was charged and that the lens is going out from B&H Photo today. I can’t wait to try it out with the teleconverter for birding and some astrophotography.

Viltrox released firmware updates for the Viltrox AF 85mm f/1.8 V1 and V2.

Firmware update instructions：
1. Fixed the issue of occasional splash screen on some camera models.
2. Update the drive to improve stability.
3. Adjust the closest focusing distance.
4. Optimize the focusing speed.

Fujifilm GFX100 Firmware 3.01 Update Improves Pixel Shift Technology

Fujifilm’s pixel shift technology is impressive, but many have had issues with getting it to work properly due to how sensitive the camera is to motion. This firmware update should make the mode a little easier for those users to get good results out of the GFX100.

Ver.3.01
The firmware update Ver.3.01 from Ver.3.00 incorporates the following issues:
Stability of operation for pixel shift shooting is improved.
Fix of minor bugs.

You can save $100 on Capture One Pro 21 at B&H Photo for a limited time. Adobe has caught up to Capture One Pro with the enhanced detail feature, but Capture One does not require any additional processing to get a similarly sharp and worm-free image, which is convenient.

Fujifilm GFX100S Fixes PDAF Banding

Jim Kasson of the last word was the first to test for PDAF Banding on the GFX100, which we covered here. He has since repeated his banding test on the GFX100S, which you can read here. The good news is that Fujifilm fixed the PDAF banding issue from the GFX100 on the GFX100S

Good news! There appears to be virtually no PDAF banding, and not much banding of any description. However, the 16-bit version doesn’t appear significantly better.

but I wonder if Fujifilm will/did also fix this problem with the original GFX100 via a firmware update. I personally have only encountered it a hand full of times when I was really pushing a low-light photo, but it does happen.

New Fujifilm Announcement Teaser

Fujifilm is teasing an announcement is coming soon. Fujifilm has been very clear in interviews that we should expect more lenses this year in addition to bodies. I think it is also highly likely that we will see the GFX50R and GFX50S updated in someway soon in addition to the GFX100S announcement so maybe more GFX glass to go with them too. We should know soon hopefully.
