The FUJIFILM X Series and GFX System Digital Camera Control Software Development Kit (SDK) will help experienced software developers accommodate the functionality of FUJIFILM X Series and GFX System cameras into any applications that are currently being developed for computers using Windows or macOS operating systems.

With this SDK, developers will be able to automatically initiate the transfer of images and remotely access the basic controls of any compatible FUJIFILM mirrorless digital camera.

Information regarding the conversion of the RAW image data contained in Fujifilm’s proprietary RAF file is not provided with this SDK. FOR INDIVIDUALS, PLEASE NOTE USING THIS SDK TO CONNECT TO, OR CONTROL, ANY COMPATIBLE FUJIFILM CAMERA, WILL VOID THE CAMERA’S LIMITED PRODUCT WARRANTY. Therefore, we recommend that only experienced software developers and qualified technicians download and use this SDK for development. Download is subject to the terms of the Software Development Kit End User License Agreement.

Fujifilm X-S10 Firmware 2.00 Announced

Latest firmware update for the FUJIFILM X-S10 Ver.2.00 announced
TOKYO, June 23, 2021 — FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Kenji Sukeno) is proud to announce that Fujifilm will release free firmware update for “FUJIFILM X-S10” (X-S10) at the end of June 2021.
The latest firmware reflects feedback provided by FUJIFILM X Series users and address requests for new functions and enhanced usability.

FUJIFILM X-S10 (Firmware Ver.2.00)
-Added support for tethered shooting and gimbal control

1. Support for tethered shooting
The new firmware adds tethered shooting capability, which can be used by connecting the X-S10 to a computer installed with either “Capture One”^*1, “Tether Shooting Plug-in for Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom®” or “FUJIFILM X Acquire.” The tethered shooting function can be used both via the USB cable connection and also wirelessly over a Wi-Fi network.

2. Firmware enables remote control functionality from gimbal via USB communications
With this firmware update, combining the X-S10 with a compatible gimbal that supports remote control functionality will allow users to start / stop video recording, specify exposure settings for video (shutter speed, aperture value, ISO sensitivity and exposure compensation), and make manual focus adjustments. Guilin Zhishen Information Technology Co., Ltd (ZHIYUN) has announced the intention of offering compatible products for the new X-S10 firmware update.

3. Support for function-specific locking
The new firmware adds a Lock option to the settings for buttons and dials in the Setup menu. By enabling the function, the unintended changes of dial / button settings will be prevented

Lenstip: Fujinon XF 18mm f/1.4 R LM WR Review

The Fujinon XF18mm f/1.4 R LM WR has been very well-reviewed since its launch and now lens tips has released its review, which says basically the same things the XF18mm is not to be missed. I’m starting to warm to the XF18mm myself and will likely add it to my collection soon even though I already own the great XF16mm.

After the test the situation is very clear. You get a long list of pros and just one flaw, and, additionally, it’s a flaw to be expected. The tested lens broke the latest resolution record and not just barely so but by a very healthy margin.

Pros:

solid, weather-sealed casing, mostly made of metal,
sensational image quality in the frame centre,
decent image quality on the edge of the frame,
negligible longitudinal chromatic aberration,
excellent correction of lateral chromatic aberration,
lack of problems with spherical aberration,
slight distortion,
low astigmatism,
out-of-focus areas pleasing to the eye for a wide-angle lens,
sensible performance against bright light,
silent, accurate, and fast autofocus.

Cons:

a bit too high vignetting.
