First Look Voigtlander NOKTON 23mm F1.2 Aspherical

The first images of the Voigtlander NOKTON 23mm f/1.2 Aspherical have come out and it looks like any other solid mechanical lens, but one interesting point is several Nikon Z mount lenses were also announced and the 23mm lens for Z mount has a significantly different design than the lens for X mount which includes a manual aperture ring on the top. Voigtlander is designing its X-mount lenses to be “ranger finder styled”. This lens was originally supposed to be announced at CP + 2022. Voightlander lenses are available from B&H Photo.

NONS is developing the SL660 an interchangeable lens camera that uses vintage EF, M42, Nikon F, PK, and CY lenses along with a medium format focal expanded to cover Instax film on Kickstarter. This isn’t their first Instax camera project, they previously launched the SL42, so the camera shouldn’t turn into vaporware if you decide to support the Kickstarter and the project is already fully funded.

Sigma expects the Sigma 16mm, 30mm, 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lenses announced earlier today to be available in April and they have a tentative timeline for the release of the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary of December 2022. Since Sigma has already done most of the heavy lifting when they designed these lenses for E-mount the delays are most likely due to supply chain issues and that is why the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary release date is only tentative.

Sigma announced the release of the Sigma 16mm, 30mm, 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lenses earlier today, but the launch day press also mentions that the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary will be coming in the future as it was first predicted here. It’s pretty obvious that third-party lens manufacturers have decided to develop primarily for mirrorless Sony cameras since they dominate the mirrorless market, for now, but that could change as Canon and Nikon mirrorless grow. This doesn’t extend to manual lens design, but AF lenses are significantly more expensive and difficult to design so manufacturers will want to optimize for their highest volume mount before trying to optimize for other mounts.
