Kenko Tokina Co., Ltd. is proud to announce the sales release of the Tokina SZ 33mm F1.2 lens for Fuji X and Sony E (APS-C) camera mounts. SZ series offering a range of exciting products with specific features and valuable advantages.

Sales will commence on June 17, 2022.

The main concept of the Tokina SZ 33mm F1.2 lens is to provide a lens for an affordable price but with a superb bokeh and great low-light performance designed for photographers and videographers in mind. 33mm focal length (50mm in full frame) equals to a standard angle of view that allows this lens to be used in a wide range of genres like landscapes, street snap, portrait and nightscape photography. Fujifilm Sigma Part 2: More X-mount Lenses to Come

Fujifilm posted X Talk #28 which is the second part of an interview that started here with  Sigma’s general manager Mr. Ozone and Fujifilm Manager Ueno. DC.life has covered it again so I do not have to rely on YouTube translate for this summary. I also watched the video and added some more myself. Below is a summary of the key points.

  • If you do not care about cost, size, and weight then increasing MTF resolution is not a problem
  • Fujifilm and Sigma have different special frequencies of MTF
  • In the MTF of APS-C lens, Sigma measures at 10 / mm 30 / mm, which is the same as full-frame lens, and Fujifilm measures at 15 / mm 45 / mm
  • Mr. Ueno says, “Fujifilm raises the hurdle and issues MFT at 15 and 45, so I think that Fujifilm is the cause of bad MTF.
  • On the other hand, Sigma says, “I have an image that 10 and 30 have become the world standard, so I’m taking over it for the time being,” said Mr. Ozone
  • Mr. Ueno wants sigma to release a compact lightweight standard zoom (24-70mm), telephoto zoom (70-200mm), and 40mm in 35mm equivalent
  • 40mm is very versatile and can be used for most shots
  • There is demand for anamorphic lenses, but they can have ghosting, distortion, lower resolution, and egg-shaped bokeh
  • Mr. Ueno thinks that resolution will become less of a priority and people will focus on their taste
  • Mr. Ozone wants more X-mount lenses and he wants X mount users to know that “I want them to enjoy the comparison between Sigma X lenses and Fujifilm X lenses.”

More Fujifilm Price Increases On The Way?

Fujifilm recently announced a substantial film price increase and now Amature Photographer has contacted Fujifilm UK to see if there would be camera price increases coming. Fujifilm UK replied:

It has been well documented that there have been issues facing the entire consumer electronics industry since the pandemic began in 2020. The cost of raw materials increasing, availability of parts due to manufacturing constraints caused by factories being locked down, increases in fuel costs resulting in higher logistics are just some of the challenges everyone has faced in the past two years. Any changes in prices are always communicated to the network of authorised Fujifilm retailers first. It is worth reminding people that UK law allows retailers to set whatever price they wish. Unfortunately we are unable to give any further information at this time about future prices changing.’

The statement is an interesting one and it could indicate that some price increases might be on the way, but Fujifilm might be trying to figure out how bad they will need to be or we could just see price increases integrated into new announcements since Fujifilm’s current lineup of cameras has been around for quite a while now. The Fujifilm X-H2 and Fujifilm X-H2S could give us some incite into X-camera pricing when they are announced later this month.
