Venus Optics Announces The World’s Tiniest 1.5x Anamorphic Series: Nanomorph 27mm T2.8, 35mm T2.4, and 50mm T2.4

Venus Optics announces the World’s Tiniest 1.5x Anamorphic series: Nanomorph 27mm T2.8, 35mm T2.4, and 50mm T2.4
Anhui China, 17 May 2022 – Venus Optics, the manufacturer specializing in inventing unique camera lenses, is proud to release the Laowa Nanomorph 1.5x anamorphic series for Super35 and Micro Four Thirds sensor. The patented anamorphic optical structure makes the lens revolutionarily small and compact. The range includes 3 different focal lengths – 27mm T2.8, 35mm T2.4, and 50mm T2.4. It is a front anamorphic design with a 1.5x constant squeeze ratio at all focusing distance. Two flare options are available – amber and blue. The extra short closest focusing distance also helps render stronger bokeh and creates a stronger compression. It is available in various mounts: Canon EF, PL mount, Canon R, Sony E, M43, DJI DL, Nikon Z, L mount, and Fuji X. Mounts are interchangeable. It is available on Indiegogo now.

Features

  • Designed for Super35 and Micro Four Thirds
  • Extremely Tiny (3.5″ long) and Light (<0.7 lbs)
  • Three focal lengths:  27mm T2.8, 35mm T2.4, and 50mm T2.4 (65mm and 80mm ETA late 2022)
  • 5x CONSTANT squeeze ratio at ALL focusing points (No Anamorphic Mumps)
  • Front Anamorphic Design
  • Two flares options are available – Amber and Blue
  • Super Close focusing distance (17″ from subject to sensor)
  • Available in 9 different mounts: Canon EF, PL mount, Canon R, Sony E, M43, DJI DL, Nikon Z, L mount and Fuji X
  • Mounts are User Interchangeable

Revolutionarily small and compact

Anamorphic lenses are always cumbersome and heavy. This revolutionary “nano-sized” lens weighs less than 0.7 lbs (320g) and is only 3.54″ (9cm) long, making it very handy for every set-up e.g. handheld, on a gimbal, on a slider, through tight space, even on a drone, etc. It makes a lot of formerly impossible shots possible. More Fujifilm Price Increases On The Way?

Fujifilm recently announced a substantial film price increase and now Amature Photographer has contacted Fujifilm UK to see if there would be camera price increases coming. Fujifilm UK replied:

It has been well documented that there have been issues facing the entire consumer electronics industry since the pandemic began in 2020. The cost of raw materials increasing, availability of parts due to manufacturing constraints caused by factories being locked down, increases in fuel costs resulting in higher logistics are just some of the challenges everyone has faced in the past two years. Any changes in prices are always communicated to the network of authorised Fujifilm retailers first. It is worth reminding people that UK law allows retailers to set whatever price they wish. Unfortunately we are unable to give any further information at this time about future prices changing.’

The statement is an interesting one and it could indicate that some price increases might be on the way, but Fujifilm might be trying to figure out how bad they will need to be or we could just see price increases integrated into new announcements since Fujifilm’s current lineup of cameras has been around for quite a while now. The Fujifilm X-H2 and Fujifilm X-H2S could give us some incite into X-camera pricing when they are announced later this month.

TCSTV: Fujifilm GFX100 Studio Photography Interview with Jason Eng

I’m a day one adopter of the GFX system and I can verify that once you shoot a GFX camera it is impossible to not compare it to others because it really is a cut above the rest. That being said GFX is not necessary, but it does provide you with many additional creative opportunities that can help you make shots and recover shots that might otherwise be impossible. There is nothing quite like GFX and when I use cameras other than my GFX100 I always find myself wondering how much better it might have looked if I just shot it with my GFX, to begin with. Below is a summary of the above video interview:

  • Jason’s assistant wanted to get a new camera system so they looked at Canon and the GFX was the same price so they compared it to the Sony they were using and it blew them away even at laptop screen size
  • GFX Camera details and gradation are unmatched
  • The compression and distortion on the GFX are useful to work with
  • The Fujifilm GFX100 calls back to classic professional cameras that had fixed vertical grip
  • GFX100 has a fully usable AF system that doesn’t miss.
  • The GFX100 vertical grip is great for him
  • The Sony was great because it was a small half body that you can just throw in your bag and go which reaches a larger target audience.
  • Today things are compact so you can go either way
  • The Fujifilm classic film presets come right in to capture one without doing a destructive edit
  • Color has been hard in the digital world and Canon was king until Fujifilm came along
  • Fujifilm was the only company to match Canon’s color, but he couldn’t see himself shooting APS-C, but now there is GFX
  • GFX has great skin tones and reds that are rich and deep
  • GFX has a lot of great lenses, but adapting legacy lenses to the GFX is fantastic
  • Adapting lenses for artistic portraits or just yourself gives you some of the softness that film had and it helps the simulations
  • Pro-level cameras are around 5k and dropping the GFX to just under that is a game-changer because traditionally you would spend 30k for what GFX gives you
  • Once you see the color and shadow tonality range that the GFX is capable of is impossible to unsee
  • 100MP doesn’t have to be about giant print ads it is about all the extra information
