SIRUI Sniper Series 23/33/56mm f/1.2 First Review Plus 16mm and 75mm Sniper Lenses Coming

I have been following the launch of the SIRUI Sniper Series pretty closely because I want to see more unique lens designs do well because I want to see more non-standard options. You can currently find the sniper series on IndieGoGo and according to CineD SIRUI plans to make a 16mm and 75mm sniper lens. While a SIRUI Sniper 75mm f/1.2 doesn’t sound like a big deal a SIRUI Sniper 16mm f/1.2 could be for astrophotographers if they step up the image quality.

According to CineD the current set of lenses aren’t very sharp wide open and suffer from some chromatic abbreviation and inconsistent bokeh, but they have character in a good way and there is no focus breathing, but if you want sharp photos then you should stop down to f/2.8-4. While the optical performance is so so these lenses render scenes with a very attractive aesthetic. These lenses could also perform differently on non-Fujifilm X-mount cameras. Autofocus was just fine and IBIS wasn’t great, but it could be improved via firmware updates in the future.

These lenses have a little magic that gives you a nice creamy dreamy look that makes lenses like this more desirable than a “perfect” lens which can be boring.
