New FUGUFILM 400 Slide Film

Japanese Camera Hunter has been working on a new slide film FUGUFILM 400 for the past 3 years. They were not able to use the original chemical formulation for slide film due to many of the chemicals used to produce it being banned so this was a difficult task to achieve. Japanese Camera Hunter decided to take on slide film because they believe better results are easier to get when digitizing color positive film than digitizing color negative film. There also is a complete lack of high-speed slide films since Fuji cut the Provia 400x line in 2013.

FUGUFILM 400 will be ready when it is ready so in the meantime check out their social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. It is believed this is the first completely new reversal film emulsion in almost two decades so this is quite a step forward for film fans that want to see film come back. Fuji Fortia was the last new color film positive created and its availability was limited. FUGUFILM 400 was originally scheduled for release in late 2020 to mid-2021, but COVID delayed its launch.

There will be no crowdfunding for Fugu Film because this is a privately funded passion project that likely won’t make a lot of money, but it is being developed for film fans by film fans. You can read more about this completely new emulsion at Japanese Camera Hunter.
