Fujifilm Releases New Tutorial About Firmware Updates

Last week we posted a bunch of general Fujifilm tutorials from this From The Workbench series, which you can watch here. We also shared some X-T4 tutorials that Fujifilm released, which you can see here. Below is a summary of what the above contains:

Firmware Updates

  • Sometimes lenses or cameras have minor bugs that can be fixed with a firmware
  • Fujifilm also uses firmware to make your camera or lenses better and faster
  • Some examples are Fujifilm has added Faster AF, New Film Simulations, and Improved Battery Life
  • Fujifilm is even updating discontinued cameras at no charge
  • You can download all your firmware updates via the computer and put them on your SD card from here
  • Firmware updates can also be downloaded via the smartphone app, but that will be covered another time
  • If you download multiple files and they are labeled with (#) you must remove the number from the file name for it to work eg XFUP0037 (1).DAT must be XFUP0037.DAT to work
  • You can load firmware for your camera and multiple lenses from one transfer
  • Put the SD card in your camera and then press and hold the display back button while turning the camera on
  • Once the white screen shows up you can let go of the display back button and then follow the directions
  • Make sure your batteries are charged and do not remove them during the process
