Fujifilm Registers FF170002 Camera With WiFi

Fujifilm registered FF17002 with the WiFi Alliance today as first reported by Photorumors and copied by others without credit. This comes after the FF170011, which was first reported at FujiAddict.

  • FF170002
  • Product: Digital camera
  • Company: FUJIFILM Corporation
  • Authentication date: October 3, 2017
  • Wi-Fi standard: IEEE 802.11b/g/n

No one is really sure what these cameras are and there are a few guesses out there ranging from X80/X-H/IBIS (X-T2S)/X-T100/GFX 50R/etc… but I don’t really like speculation beyond what Fujifilm has publicly said or demonstrated.

Fujifilm added Bluetooth to the X-E3 so the 170011 might be an updated X-T camera with Bluetooth and maybe a deeper buffer to compete with the Sony a9, while this new camera could be a second GFX body since Fujifilm has spoken of different body types in the past. I fully expect them to launch one at some point in the future, but now might be too soon. Fujifilm is also bringing the excellent MK lenses to X-Mount so it could be an X-Mount video-centric camera timed for release with the lens for X-mount . Fujifilm hints at a lot of exciting products coming in the future, but there is no hard evidence relating to new cameras at this time. Market segmentation is difficult to get right, but Fujifilm already has a lot of cameras between the X-A and X-T line.
