Fujinon PL 20-120mm Cabrio XK6x20 Zoom Lens Overview

Fujifilm released a new overview video for the Fujinon PL 20-120mm Cabrio XK6x20 Zoom Lens. Fuji’s new 4k lens line up has been winning a lot of awards and I can’t wait to see how it shakes up the market going forward.

Getting Creative With Photography 2

Roger Payne is back with an inexpensive window light box solution that could be very useful. His bathtub product photography method was very popular among readers of this blog and others, which inspired him to publish this follow up, how to create an inexpensive light box for getting professional results. Roger manages to capture some very compelling images using just two sheets of A3 paper and his Fujifilm X-E2S with a XF60 F2.4 R macro lens attached. You can read about how he accomplished the photo above and more on the official Fujifilm Blog.

Almost Perfect From The Start

most_loved_x_01

When the Fujifilm X100 was released in 2011, I was blown away by the quality of the images it was able to produce, but the first X100 was flawed in many ways. Fuji’s latest article “most loved” could easily be renamed most frustrating because the rest of the X series has shown us what the Fujifilm X100 could become. The original X100 is one of the few cameras I have repurchased, due to Fujifilm addressing many of the early issues with the camera via firmware updates, but by the time the corrections were made, there were a variety of compelling X series cameras on the market for substantially less money. Two years later, when the X100S was released, there was finally parity between the X100 and the rest of the line up, which peaked my interest, but then, for some reason, they quickly followed it up with the X100T, so I purchased a used X100S and saved a substantial amount of money. The Fujifilm GX 680 III S Professional

Bellamy at Japan camera hunter has an interesting article about an often over looked medium format camera. The Fujifilm GX680IIIS, which is a huge studio quality camera that many people are unaware of, because it never gained popularity. I was surprised to find out that even this camera has the ability to have a CF/CF-MS digital back attached to it, which makes it compelling for people looking to get into digital medium format. Whenever I come across a camera like this it makes me want to buy into medium format, but the scarcity and sometimes prices involved in putting a digital kit medium format kit together always dissuade me.

B&H Photo Significantly Discounted The Bolt Cyclone PP-310 Compact Power Pack

Bolt

The Bolt Cyclone PP-310 should be compatible with the Nissin i60a for Fuji when it arrives in June and is $100 cheaper than the official Nissin PS8 power pack. If you are in the market for a flash battery pack the Bolt Cyclone is worth a look at $200 off.

“The Cyclone PP-310 Compact Power Pack for Portable Flashes is an affordable, reliable and lightweight power source that works with most hot shoe and handle mount flash units that have a high voltage input, such as Canon 600EX-RT, Nikon SB-910, Sony HVL-F60M and select Metz units.”

Many readers have expressed conflict between purchasing the Fujifilm 35mm f2 R WR and 35mm f1.4 R. The XF35F2 is a very modern lens, while the XF35F1.4 was state of the art when the X system launched. The Phoblographer wrote a short article about these two lenses a bit ago if you’re still trying to decided. I, among other readers, greatly prefer the Fujifilm 35mm f2 R WR, but you might feel differently after reading their article.
