Fujifilm GFX 50S Landscape Love, Reviews, Sharpening and Electronic Shutter

The Fujifilm GFX 50 S is a very flexible camera, due to it’s small size, but once you own one it makes you want to attempt into new styles of photography that might not have interested you before. I love cameras that make me want to shoot and make me wonder about potential photos that could be captured. They bring out the academic in me, which increases my skill set, but also empties my bank account. My current equipment list isn’t looking much different than Lewis Von John’s since I just purchased the LEE Filters 100mm System Deluxe Landscape Starter Kit from B&H Photo, but I’m pretty sure I will need/want a super stopper in addition. Florida’s sun can be brutal.

Picktorial 3.0 Released

Picktorial contacted me a few days ago about their new photo editing suite that launched today. You can get a copy on their site here and see a full list of supported cameras here. I am in the process of putting together a RAW engine shoot out, so I might include their RAW editor in the round up, but at this time they do not support the Fujifilm GFX.

Press Release:
Picktorial makes pro-level photo-editing available in a minimalist, streamlined workflow.

Jerusalem, Israel – April 4th 2017 – Picktorial Innovations, Ltd. is excited to announce the immediate release of Picktorial 3, its latest non-destructive RAW photo editing platform for Mac. Powered by innovative technology, Picktorial offers a streamlined user experience, making pro-level tools accessible through a clean, simplified interface.

Picktorial 3 provides advanced local adjustment options, all of which are fully non-destructive and offer real-time preview. These include luminosity and color masks used by fine-art photographers, a high-end edge-aware brushing engine, state of the art skin-smoothing capacities, blending modes and more.

Picktorial has sparked great interest amongst those looking for a powerful Aperture replacement, offering native support for browsing Aperture libraries alongside its impressive feature set. The latest version also offers unique full support for the latest Fujifilm x-trans cameras RAW (including compressed/uncompressed RAF) and auto lens correction based on embedded metadata, an exciting development for Fuji photographers in particular. Think Tank Signature Series 13 Perfect For The Fujifilm GFX

In the past, Think Tank Photo didn’t have a bag for someone like me. I found their ultra utilitarian style very unappealing, as I have always preferred bags from companies like Billingham and Artisan & Artist. Until recently, I have purchased smaller Billingham bags for my mirrorless cameras, and larger Artisan & Artist bags for carrying more equipment; but my last large bag from Artisan & Artist wore out in about a year, and the company refused to repair the shoulder strap. Now I consider myself very lucky as Think Tank Photo announced their Signature Series of bags when I was in the market for a replacement.

The Signature 10 and 13 are both great options for the Fujifilm GFX system but, after watching Think Tank Photo’s promotional video, I decided to purchase the Signature 13 to ensure enough room for my entire kit. The bag is a very nice size, extremely configurable, light and comfortable. My only complaints are that the front cover can bunch up a little and the case does not fit a 15-inch MacBook Pro. I never understood editing/proofing photos on a small laptop screen. As a camera bag , the Signature Series 13 is perfect for the Fujifilm GFX 50S, but I really wish they made a 15-inch model.

Fujifilm GFX 50S For Wine Lovers, GF120 Lens Review and More

Fine spirits usually have a tonal richness to them that can be difficult to capture and the Fujifilm GFX 50S would be perfect for this kind of pursuit. Yorick Photography did a GFX wine shoot recently, not quite in the way that I imagined, but it’s still very well done. You can see their process in the video above and the final result below.
