Fujifilm X-T20 Roundup and Silver Award

The Fujifilm X-T20 is an great camera in a small package. Surprisingly Fujifilm launched the X-T10 follow-up shortly after the Fujifilm X-T2 launch. More than a few photographers decided to pick one up instead of the more professional X-T2 when it was announced, because it is a good value.

The Fujifilm GFX 50S is Meant to be Held

When the Fujifilm GFX 50S was announced a lot of bloggers/vloggers/photographers tried to paint it as a specialty camera , but now that the camera is in photographers hands they are adding it to their workflow just like any other camera. If you are given the opportunity to shoot a GFX it’s clearly designed to be shot handheld. It is so well deigned that you can manage sharp images with the Fujinon 63mm shooting with shutter speeds as low as 1/10 of a second relatively easily, which would be impressive on a crop sensor camera.

The GFX feels great in the hands, but questionable on a tripod, because buttons like the Q button are placed where you might grip the camera for adjustment. This is not a problem handheld where buttons are out of your way, but within reach. I hope overtime the community will begin to accept the GFX as just another tool, but for now there are still writers trying to slam the GFX for clicks.

Reviews/Samples/Impressions
travelshooteditrepeat – “After about 2 seconds of holding the GFX I fell in love with this camera all over again, it just fits the hands, and has perfect balance, even one handed this camera is excellent. I think this camera system is the perfect companion to an XT2 or XPRO2! It just fits with the work style and flows perfectly.”

DPReview – “Thinking about buying a Fujifilm GFX 50S? Read this first.” A writer does his best to write the opposite of what everyone else is saying by turning to a lot of miss information. If you read the article make sure you check out the comment section.

DSLR Magazine – “According to our experience with the GFX 50S, it may turn out to be what is intended by the firm, which is-forgiven by Anglicism- a game changer , a new proposal in the field of medium format, and based on In something very simple in principle: to understand that the future is “without mirror”, not already for the average format, butespecially for the same one.”

huseyintaskin – 20 days with the GFX 50S

Mike Kobal – Lots of great portraits and crops

Fujifilm X-T2, X-T1, X-Pro2 and EF-X500 Firmware Updates

Fujifilm’s latest update lest you flash the Fujifilm E-FX500 to fix an issue. Maybe 3rd parties will be able to use the new firmware to flash in the future.

Fujifilm X-T2, X-T1,  and X-Pro2 Firmware Update
1.Accessory option is added in firmware upgrade function. With this upgrade, firmware of accessory like Shoe Mount Flash can be upgraded with the camera.

<Important notice for Shoe Mount Flash EF-X500 owners>
The firmware for the EF-X500 is upgraded.
The serial numbers of the flashes which requires this firmware update can be checked in the searching form from the link below .
Update the firmware for X-T1,X-T2 or X-Pro2 first, then upgrade the firmware for EF-X500.

Fujifilm X-T1 Firmware ver. 5.10
Fujifilm X-T2 Firmware ver. 1.20
Fujifilm X-Pro2 Firmware ver. 2.10

Fujifilm EF-X500 Firmware Update
1.We identified the phenomena below, which could arise in rare instances when certain EF-X500 units are in stand-by mode and when a communication error occurs between the camera and this flash unit.

The phenomena below could occur in the aforementioned instances:
1. The applicable EF-X500 flash unit does not properly respond to turn on from stand-by mode.
2. The alkaline batteries may become increasingly hot. If you try to take the batteries out of the EF-X500 flash unit without turning the flash off and/or disconnecting the flash unit from the camera and letting the batteries cool down, a skin burn could occur.

EF-X500 FirmwareUpdate ver.1.02

You can check if your flash needs the firmware update here, but you might as well upgrade.

Fujifilm X-T2 Large Print Best Practices

Since switching to Fujifilm from Nikon Eric from Finding Middle Earth has been putting out some great tutorial videos for Fujifilm fans. If you’re not familiar with printing the above tutorial will help you master the process of preparing your digital image for print and below he goes over the end results. Eric uses Lightroom and ON1 Resize for his large prints, but for smaller prints you can leave out the ON1 Resize steps.

Fujifilm GFX 50S First Firmware, Insights, Samples and Reviews

Fujifilm is already preparing a firmware update, based on user input, for the Fujifilm GFX 50S according to the interview above. There’s also some interesting discussion about the possibility of Metabones AF adapters for the GFX in the future towards the end. Lets hope it happens since the system was designed from the beginning accept adapted glass. I can’t wait for the first GFX firmware update, which will make an already great camera better. Hopefully Fujifilm will improve autofocus a little bit with the 63mm and battery life when pre-AF is enabled.

Reviews and Samples
mpex-experience – “When I picked it up, it felt like I was holding my old Canon 5D Mark III, only with a tilting EVF (which is so truly amazing by the way)…I was blown away by the latitude I had in shadow and highlight recovery!…this is a camera system that is usable for a wide variety of photography styles including street and whatever my category my astronaut series falls under.”

allanhiga – The Lamborghini of Medium Format? (Probably should have called it the Ferrari of Medium format since they are more reliable) ” This is the camera that will start to democratize medium format the same way the Canon 5D Mark II democratized film making.”

fujifilm.co.nz – Fujifilm New Zealand published Craig Robertson’s Review “I think this camera really will be a game changer especially when all of the six announced lenses are available over the next 12 months or so.”

Camerajabber – “I think it’s absolutely stunning. It’s taking me a little while to work out what I need from it and exactly how I’ll use it, but comparing the results I get from it from my current line-up of Fuji X-series cameras confirms that they are very different beasts.”

fujifilmgfx.id – Looks like Fujifilm might be preparing a new ad campaign

The Fuji Guys: Did You Know You Could Do This on Your X Series Camera?

Some pretty basic tips from the Fuji Guys about how to use your camera optimally

  1. Half press shutter to exit the menus
  2. Playback – press and hold delete – press in rear command dial
  3. On newer cameras if your on a menu tab and press up you will go to the end of the menu tab above the one selected
  4. You can capture a portrait panorama by choosing from bottom to top or top to bottom
  5. If you want to move your focus point from one side to the other it will wrap around and same from top to bottom, but if you want to move it back to the center double tap the joystick

Most of these tips are for newer cameras like the Fujifilm X-T2, but if you don’t know them you should.
