Fujifilm X100F For Instagram and More

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogV5J2Ki8Yo

The Fujifilm X100F is still incredibly difficult to get, but Adorama has a few black ones in right now. I am actually selling my Leica Q and am seriously considering a X100F to replace it as my grab and go camera. Of course, the GFX makes me hope that we might have a compact medium format fixed lens camera soon like that X100, but until I receive a solid tip it remains a pipe dream. The GFX has even caused me to consider selling my M240, but I just can’t bring myself to part with it at this time.

Cameras like the X100F are great mini quasi-rangefinder replacement cameras and I have never regretted purchasing one, but I want a big sensor. I know ill buy a X100F at some point, but it might be a while before availability makes it an impulse purchase from my preferred retailer B&H Photo, also follow me on Instagram.

CSTV: Fujifilm GFX 50S Hands-On Field Test in Japan

CameraStoreTV released the GFX review they teased a few weeks ago and it covers all of the current glass and a future lens. During CSTV’s trip to Japan, they were given access to all 5 of the now current GFX lenses and were shown the Fujinon GF 45mm f2.8 R WR, which they call light. The GF 45mm should be like the current GF 63mm, which makes the Fuji GFX an extremely portable medium format camera. The Fujifilm GFX LM lenses at this time are on the heavy side, but the Fujinon GF 110mm f2 R LM WR isn’t bad compared to the other LM glass currently available. Hopefully, Fujifilm can get the weight down on the LM design lenses going forward.

  • They found the camera comfortable and very professional looking, but hope there will be a more attractive model in the future. Maybe a GFX 50R.
  • AF is fast in day light but slows down at night and AF-C is useless.
  • Chris shot the GFX at night around Japan and was able to drop the shutter speed lower than other cameras.
  • Great shutter that creates minimal vibration
  • He didn’t need his tripod
  • Touch screen lags a little but is good
  • You can adapt glass with the focal plane shutter
  • Everything is weather resistant at this time
  • Great battery life
  • Tons of dynamic range
  • Easy to get colors right
  • Continue to hammer on the 1/125 sync speed (Which FujiAddict readers should know is a non issue by now, because there are a lot of HSS solutions)
  • Their guest is convinced and switching to Fuji

Fujifilm GFX 50S: Projects, Lenses, RAW Files, and New Filters

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ANNlos7Wcw

LEE Filters announced new ND filters that block IR in addition to light to help produce more color accurate images. The ProGlass series from LEE is perfect for the Fujifilm GFX or any mirrorless camera that Fujifilm produces, especially since Fujifilm cameras are IR sensitive. It’s interesting that Mark Bauer uses a Fujifilm GFX 50S in the promotional video, but LEE chose to use a Canon camera, which isn’t known to be IR sensitive for the product photos. The marketing department should work on their continuity.

Citograph 35mm f/8.0 Pancake Lens Launched on Kickstarter

New Citograph 35mm ‘Always-in-Focus’ Lens will Revolutionize Street Photography
(Berlin) C.P. Goerz, a new German startup, announced a Kickstarter campaign today for the Citograph 35mm, a super-compact, always-in-focus tessar-type lens that may very well revolutionize street photography.

The Citograph 35 was designed specifically for capturing those fleeting, decisive moments that are gone in the flash of an eye. With no moving parts and 35mm focal length, the Citograph’s design is beautifully simple. The lens design includes a specially-coated “disc aperture” equivalent to f/8.

One of the thinnest lenses in the world, the Citiograph is so discreet it is virtually invisible on your camera and thin enough that it can slip into your pocket when detached.

The Citograph 35 will allow photographers to shoot from the hip knowing that everything from 9 feet in front of them to infinity will be in focus. The hyper-focal technology of the lens will allow photographers to take shots of fast moving subjects without a moment’s hesitation.

The lens is the passion project of Benedikt Hartmann, a 20-year veteran of the German camera industry. The idea was to develop a high quality, high resolution lens that was also easy to use. Hartmann is driven by the mission to make photography simple, while still delivering professional-quality results. Recently, Hartmann and a group of investors created C.P. Goerz to bring the idea to life.

“We want to take the photographer away from behind the viewfinder and allow him to live in the moment in the scene,” Hartmann said. “Shooting spontaneously and even from the hip delivers new perspectives and makes the photographer part of what is going on around him.”

The Kickstarter campaign will help raise the needed capital to bring the lens into production. To keep costs down, Hartmann has received proposals from qualified production facilities in Asia and southern Europe.

C.P. Goerz takes its name from one of the most renowned German lens makers of the early 20th Century. The original C.P. Goerz company worked closely with Zeiss and in 1926 merged with Zeiss Ikon. The Goerz spirit of innovation carries on with the Citograph.

The Citograph 35 will be available in mounts for Nikon, Canon, Sony E, Fuji, MFT, Pentax, Leica M. It is expected to go on the market in Spring 2018 with a retail price of $499 USD.
