Fujifilm GFX 50S: High Resolution Editing and Display, A Bold first Impression and The Hireacamera Road Trip

A little over a year ago I wrote an article 24MP and Beyond, where I explored the need for high megapixel cameras for digital display in the near future. Now that 4k, 8k and HiDPI displays are becoming very popular among photographers there is another issue to be covered… editing. diglloyd has taken the time to put together an informative piece about editing on these displays and how it is unwise. High resolution displays simply aren’t good for detailed editing work at this time, but they are a supurb way to display high megapixel images like the ones produces by the Fujifilm GFX 50S.

Above Jake Hicks gives his lengthy first impressions of the Fujifilm GFX 50S, which is more like a review. Jake considers the camera to be “absolutely outstanding” and “this genuinly is the next step.” Yet, probably the most interesting quote from Jake is “if you want a camera… that is going to help you cheat at photography… personally I think this is it”, which might sound like a bold statement, but if you have been following FujiAddict then you have seen some of the recovery examples out there. The Fujifilm GFX 50S gives you the ability to correct almost any error and Jake gives plenty of examples. Below you can see part 4 of the Hireacamera road trip.

photokina 2018: the world’s leading trade fair for photo, video and imaging is repositioning itself

Fujifilm GFX 50S: Road Trip, Reviews and Work

Now that it has warmed up across the United States photographers are starting to take trips to the midwest with the Fujifilm GFX 50S’ and they are vlogging about the experience. The GFX is an ideal travel camera that has no drawbacks compared to a modern DSLR for travel photography. Even if you feel that it doesn’t have the right focal length for you yet, there is a ton of great lenses that adapt very well to its sensor. The GFX roundups have shown how dozens of lenses adapt well with the 4:3 sensor in the Fujifilm GFX, which can actually more efficiently use a lens you already own then a 3:2 sensor. Many times even if there is vignetting there will be 40+ usable megapixels left. We also have a ton of photographers shooting adapted glass in the Fujifilm GFX Owners group, so very few questions go unanswered there.
