Fujifilm GFX 50S RRS L-Plate Set Update

Really Right Stuff sent out an E-mail to customers that orders the RRS Fujifilm GFX 50S RRS L-Plate containing the following information:

“GFX 50S L-Plate Set Update

Hi …,We recently shipped to you

We recently shipped to you a RRS L-Plate Set for your new Fuji GFX 50S camera. This plate set features our modular design consisting of a custom base plate that mounts to the base of your camera, and a separate L-component that  slides into a groove in the base plate. Unfortunately this particular design utterly failed on the “smooth & easy” feature.

We tried a new approach with this design in an attempt to make the plate even more rigid when used in portrait/vertical mode. But this change came at the cost of the user experience, and made the L-component nearly impossible to slide out for quick access to the battery. We’ve listened to your feedback and want to assure you that we’re working on the “really right” solution. We’ll be back in touch shortly to let you know how we plan to deliver the L-Plate that your Fuji camera deserves. In the meantime, please continue to use the base plate; all necessary modifications will only involve the L-component.”

The reader that sent in the E-mail had the following perspective on the product: Read More »

Fujifilm GFX 50S: Really Right Stuff First Look and More

A lot of Fujifilm GFX Owners are interested in L-Brackets for the GFX 50S, but many are disappointed that you have to remove most L-Bracket designs to replace the battery. Really Right Stuff is known for having some of the best designs around and above we get our first good look at their L-Bracket designed specifically for the Fujifilm GFX 50S. One thing that’s interesting about their bracket is that if you buy it for use with a handgrip you can access the battery in the grip, but not in the body.

I wish they would have made a bulge in the rail or some kind of snap open frame so you can access the battery in the camera, but if you really want to access the GFX battery without removing the L-Bracket users in our owners group have reported that the Arca-Swiss L-Bracket will allow access to the battery without removing the L-Bracket.

Fujinon MK50-135mm T2.9 Zoom Announced

FUJIFILM/FUJINON LAUNCHES NEXT IN “MK” CINEMA LENS SERIES
Compact and Lightweight FUJINON MK50-135mm to be Showcased at Cine Gear Expo and Realscreen West

Wayne, N.J., May 25, 2017 – The Optical Devices Division of FUJIFILM has announced the official launch of the latest in its “MK” Series of cinema lenses – the FUJINON MK50-135mm T2.9 zoom. The MK50-135mm was shown as a companion lens to the MK18-55mm T2.9 zoom, introduced in February, during the NAB show last month. The MK50-135mm will be on display to a motion picture and television production community at Cine Gear Expo 2017 in Hollywood, June 2nd and 3rd, and to documentary and reality producers at Realscreen West in Santa Monica on June 6-8.

The MK50-135mm is the same size and weight as the MK18-55mm, but with a 50-135mm focal length(both in the Super 35mm format). “It has all the performance that makes the MK18-55mm so exciting,” said Tom Fletcher, Director of Sales, Optical Devices Division of FUJIFILM. “It has no breathing, no ramping, and the same par focal capabilities – all wrapped up in a new focal length for the series.”

New footage shot by DP Philip Bloom using an MK50-135mm T2.9 lens will be posted here shortly. Read More »
