Fujiguys On The Streets of Montreal With the Fujifilm X-Pro2

The Fujifilm X-Pro lineup is one of my favorite of all time right up there with the M, but the Fujifilm X-Pro 2 hasn’t been getting much love since the release of the Fujifilm X-T2. When I think of Fujifilm cameras the X100 is the first camera that comes to mind followed by the X-Pro line. They were the cameras that kicked off the X-system and made it the success that it is today. They are great grab and go cameras for the street or life and I am glad Fujifilm is starting to market them again because they are every bit the X-T2’s equal or arguably superior for photography.

Updated: FUJIFILM to Release Latest Firmware Updates for EF-X500 Flash

July 25, 2017
Customers who have FUJIFILM GFX 50S can update the firmware of EF-X500 by updating the firmware of a camera body and attaching it to the camera.

To Our Customers Using the EF-X500 Flash:

An EF-X500 flash owner has reported to us an occurrence of the alkaline batteries in the flash unit becoming very hot when the EF-X500 was in stand-by mode. As a result of our investigation, certain phenomena could arise in rare instances when certain EF-X500 units are in stand-by mode and when a communication error occurs between the camera and this flash unit.

The phenomena below could occur in the aforementioned instances:

  1. 1.The applicable EF-X500 flash unit does not properly respond to turn on from stand-by mode.
  2. 2.The alkaline batteries may become increasingly hot. If you try to take the batteries out of the EF-X500 flash unit without turning the flash off and/or disconnecting the flash unit from the camera and letting the batteries cool down, a skin burn could occur.

A firmware upgrade is now available to address and prevent this potential occurrence in relevant EF-X500 units.

Accordingly, we recommend that applicable product owners upgrade their EF-X500 flash firmware to version 1.02 which is posted on the firmware download site.

The serial numbers of the flashes which requires this firmware upgrade can be checked in the searching form below. If the serial number is not applicable, the firmware of your EF-X500 flash unit does NOT need upgrading.
We appreciate your continued support for the Fujifilm brand, and we apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced.

Fujinon MK Cine Lenses For X-Mount Coming Late 2017

EARLY FUJIINON MK ADOPTER, STATURE FILMS, TAKES DELIVERY OF FIRST MK50-135mm IN NORTH AMERICA

Combined Focal Range and Performance of Earlier Model MK Zooms PromptSplit Decision from Independent Production House

Wayne, N.J., July 24, 2017 – The Optical Devices Division of FUJIFILM has announced the first North American customer of its recently released FUJINON MK50-135mm T2.9 zoom. Toronto-based Stature Films, best known for its commercial and documentary production, was an early adopter of the first in the MK Series – the MK18-55mm – purchasing two shortly after the lens’ introduction last February. Stature Films now boasts having the first MK50-135mm in North America.

“We bought two MK18-55’s as soon as we heard about them,” said Andrew Sorlie, Creative Director, Stature Films. “Immediately our previous DSLR lenses started collecting dust. We couldn’t be happier with the 18-55’s performance. We love the richness they bring to our images, and a huge plus is the fact that they don’t breathe. So, when we heard the MK50’s were available, we didn’t hesitate for a second. Given the combined range of 18-135mm and their performance, we knew we’d be able to cover everything we need – wide angles, tight close ups, two-shots – with ease and style. And with just two lenses. We can’t wait to get out in the field and use this new glass on our next project.” Read More »

Fujifilm GFX 50S: Roundup and Explosive Growth

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zs22pxLESDI

Photographers and videographers alike are continuing to push the GFX to its limits and the adapters coming from companies like Kipon and Laowa are opening new possibilities on the GFX going forward. In less than a year, the Fujifilm GFX has become a full featured system with an ecosystem that continues to grow rapidly. I am glad third parties have received the GFX well and I’m looking forward to the possibility of some new form factors from Fujifilm almost as much as I am looking forward to native glass.

Fujifilm Sunday Savings Returns

Fujifilm announced another set of camera rebates today immediately following their last sale. This might be the new normal from Fujifilm since we haven’t seen a massive lens sale in a while now. Readers keep contacting me about Fujifilm’s notoriously good lens savings since we haven’t seen them in a while, but I have no insight at this time. Hopefully, if we are luck Fujifilm will bring the very popular sale at least once a year.

TCSTV Live: David duChemin Uses Fujifilm X-T2 on Land and More

TCSTV Live is off to a rocky start. Video Updated The first minute and a half the audio didn’t work and then the video and audio gets desynced… Let’s hope they post a better copy later, but the overall conversation is worth a listen. David duChemin is very opinionated and interesting to listen too if you are looking for some guidance. It is not overly surprising that he has become a Fujifilm fan since their cameras are very photographer centric. Hopefully, someone releases an underwater housing for the X-T2 soon that is acceptable so he can dump Nikon for his water work soon.
