MAP Camera 2025 February Rankings – Fujifilm #1 Again

Fujifilm X100VI Silver and Black:
B&H Photo / Amazon (Silver : Black) / Moment / Adorama

The Fujifilm X100VI is the top-selling camera at MAP Cameras, followed by the Fujifilm X-T50 in 6th place. The Fujifilm X100VI was announced over 1 year ago, but it is still incredibly popular and difficult to find. It will be interesting to see if sales can remain consistently strong if Fujifilm can ever produce enough to satisfy demand since scarcity makes things more desirable.

MAP Camera also made an interesting statement about the Fujifilm X100VI.

The FUJIFILM X100VI took first place. This is the first time it has been in first place since May 2024. It was released at the end of March 2024. It was a hot topic even before its release and attracted a lot of attention. Naturally, we were flooded with inquiries, but the supply from the manufacturer could not keep up at all… We only received orders for the number of cameras scheduled for the first shipment, and we were in an unusual situation where we could not even take new reservations for any more than that. Since then, we have continued to sell the product by accepting orders for the number of cameras we received each time we received a shipment, and we have continued to do so to this day.

The number of products we receive has gradually increased, and it has often appeared in the top rankings. And now it has won first place. We have mixed emotions about its first place ranking, as many people have not been able to get their hands on it yet due to timing issues. It has been almost a year since its release, but its popularity has not waned at all. Its appeal has been featured in various content up to now. Its popularity seems to have been further fueled by its difficulty in obtaining it. We are eager to see how it will rank once the supply stabilizes and we are able to take orders as usual.

There is also a statement about the Fujifilm X-T50 also.

In sixth place is the FUJIFILM X-T50, which dropped from fourth place last time. Although it has dropped two places in the rankings, the number of units sold has dropped significantly compared to last time. There seems to have been a slight shortage of silver recently, but even taking that into account, the drop is large, and it is a cause for concern as new models from other manufacturers are scheduled to be released in the future.

PP: Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary Review – A Solid Travel Lens

Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary:
B&H Photo / Amazon / Adorama

Petapixel published its review of the Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary, which you can watch in full above or check out the excerpts below:

  • Super zooms are convenient, but we haven’t seen many for mirrorless
  • A lens like this is aimed at torists
  • They tested the lens on a full-frame camera that gives 26MP when cropped to APS-C, so it should be representative of performance on a high-end APS-C camera
  • Compact and takes 67mm filters while weighing 615g
  • Weather sealed
  • It has a tight zoom with a locking switch, so creeping isn’t an issue
  • The manual focus ring is ok
  • 6-stop IBIS in lens
  • Autofocus is quick and accurate with HLA motors
  • Impressive 1:2 macro at 70mm
  • You can work close, but there isn’t much working distance, so the shadow of the lens might get in the way
  • Sharpness is fine at 70mm up close but not amazing
  • Very good at preventing flare
  • No ghosting
  • Not great bokeh because it is busy with some onion rigs
  • There is some digital correction of chromatic aberration and distortion with some vignetting
  • Super zoom lenses are generally going to need some correction so that is fine
  • The center is decently sharp at 16mm f/3.5, but the corners will need some stopping down, but are always a little blurry
  • At 300mm, sharpness is excellent, and the corners are improved with only a bit of softness, but the corners won’t get super sharp, which is ok for most applications
  • 16-300m is a huge range that is largely for travel photographers

Fujifilm X-M5 Sales Paused Overseas and Sold Out Almost Everywhere Else

Fujifilm X-M5
B&H Photo / Amazon Silver : Black / Moment / Adorama

The Fujifilm X-M5 is selling incredibly well in Asia, and retailers have had to suspend sales to catch up.

  • Kitamura Camera: Discontinued products
  • Bic Camera: Sales suspended
  • Map Camera: In preparation
  • Yodobashi Camera: Sales suspended

American retailers seem to be suffering similar shortages, and on Amazon, the only Fujifilm X-M5 available is a refurbished camera. It looks like the entry level market has picked up in a big way for Fujifilm, with several of their cameras being impossible to find ever since the Fujifilm X100VI went viral, leading to a new retro digital camera craze.

Fujifilm Continues to Tease The Fujifilm GFX100RF

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/lj8Yfqr6tuU

The Fujifilm GFX100RF isn’t a very well-kept secret. We got a pretty good look at it from the previous teaser, which was almost good enough to see details about the Fujinon 35mm f/4 lens. Now, Fujifilm is showing the Fujifilm X100VI and Fujifilm GFX100SII together with a new lower-quality static teaser at the ned of the video that you can check out below. I am curious how well the GFX100RF will sell without a hybrid EVF since I was considering a GFX100RF if it had one, but since it looks like we are not getting one, I decided to purchase a Fujifilm X100VI instead.

  • Crop zoom lever under the shutter button
  • Dedicated aspect ratio dial
  • Size similar to the X-Pro 3 in size Estimated dimentions
  • 100 MP sensor with similar features to other GFX100 cameras
  • No IBIS
  • Built-in  GF 35mm f/4 Lens
  • Priced around $5k

7Artisans AF 27mm f/2.8 Now Available

7Artisans AF 27mm f/2.8: Amazon / B&H Photo

The 7Artisans AF 27mm f/2.8 can now be preordered after we covered a bunch of 7Artisans that are coming here soon. The 7Artisans AF 27mm f/2.8 looks quite goood on the Fujifilm X-Pro3, but I wish they included an apreture ring, because there is room for one and it would make it pair even nicer with Fujifilm cameras.
