Tamron 13mm F1.8 Di III-A Patent Found

Asobinet found a patent for the Tamron 13mm F1.8 Di III-A, which could be one of the five lenses Tamron plans to announce this year. We have seen a lot of great wide lenses for APS-C lately, and it will be interesting to see how it compares if Tamron decided to produce this lens for X-mount.

Tamron Financial Results FY2022

Tamron released their FY2022 Financial results, and mirrorless continues to grow substantially while DSLR sales fade away. Tamron is also promising to continue releasing around 5 lenses a year, so let’s hope we get more great glass in 2023.

Fujifilm Financial Results for Q3 FY2022

Fujifilm just released its financial results, and of course, Instax is continuing to do quite well while Fujifilm’s new cameras are selling well. You can find the full report here or read the photography-centric bullet points below.

Brisk sales of instant photo systems and digital cameras boosted overall revenue by 24.4% year-over-year to ¥323.7 billion, and operating income by 80.8% year-over-year to ¥62.7 billion.
In the Consumer Imaging, revenues increased due to strong sales of instant photo systems, color photographic paper and dry minilabs / materials. In November 2022, we launched the smartphone printer INSTAX SQUARE Link. It is rated highly in the market for its new functions: AR Print which allows users to apply an augmented reality (AR) effect to INSTAX prints, and INSTAX Connect which allows users to send INSTAX images with chat messages.
In the Professional Imaging, revenue increased due to steady sales of new models from the X Series, which celebrated its 10th anniversary. These are X-H2S released in July 2022, X-H2 released in September 2022, and X-T5 released in November 2022 that adheres to the X Series’ original concept of “compact, lightweight, and superior image quality,” while prioritizing photography in its design.

Top Gun and Avatar Used Fujinon MK and Fujinon Premier Lenses

YMCinema looked at the equipment used to create Oscar-nominated films this year in the categories of Best Picture and Best Cinematography. Fujinon lenses were used for two films in the Best Picture category Top Gun and Avatar. These films used Fujinon MK and Fujinon Premier lenses to bring their vision to life, and while Fujinon Premier lenses can be quite pricy, the Fujinon MK line of lenses is quite affordable and accessible to most aspiring filmmakers. The Viltorx 75mm f/1.2 Pro XF has been very well reviewed, and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite lenses for X mount. I received my copy a few days ago, and with just moon light, you can shoot hand held photos that look like it is daytime. This lens is exceptional, and I can’t wait to use it for a project.
