Fujifilm Financial Results For Q3 FY2023: Income Increased By 18.8% And 41.7% Year-Over-Year

Fujifilm just released its financial results, and of course, Instax is continuing to do quite well while Fujifilm’s new cameras are selling well with income increasing by 18.8% and 41.7% year-over-year. You can find the full report here or read the photography-centric bullet points below.

  • Moving on to the performance of the Imaging segment.
  • Revenue increased by 13.8% year-over-year to ¥368.6 billion and operating income rose by 41.7% year-over-year to ¥88.9 billion, due to brisk sales of instant photo systems and digital cameras.
  • In the Consumer Imaging, brisk sales of the INSTAX instant photo systems drove revenue higher.
    In addition to the existing product lineup, sales of INSTAX mini Evo, INSTAX Pal, a palm- sized camera launched in October 2023, and other high value-added products fared well.
  • In the Professional Imaging, revenue rose due to strong sales of X-S20 launched in June 2023 and GFX100 II launched in September 2023, in addition to brisk sales of X-H2, X- H2S and X-T5 released in the previous fiscal year. In October 2023, we started offering the Tunnel inspection DX solution that improves tunnel inspection efficiency by using the latest optical technology, image processing technology and AI.

Fujifilm X100VI X Summit Teaser Released

The Fujifilm X100 has been a hot camera for some time now so it is fortunate that Fujifilm will be refreshing it at their next X Summit because demand has been unreal and a new X100VI will likely be a cash cow for Fujifilm if they can keep up with demand. Today Fujifilm released a teaser for the Fujifilm X100VI with the silhouette of the X100 and it perfectly matches the X100V, but the dials are a little shorter on the silhouette, which makes me wonder if they removed the threaded shutter button that many Fujifilm cameras still have.

The Fujifilm X100VI will gain an electronic shutter with speeds up to 1/180,000 along with Fujifilm’s latest AF algorithm and 3.69m dot hybrid EVF. With Fujifilm’s new 40MP image sensor base ISO will be 125 ISO with 4k 60p to 6.2k 30p recording and IBIS. The new body will be about the same size as the old one, which means the camera will still use a single high-speed SD card and Fujifilm’s classic battery the NP-W126S.

I’m personally considering getting a Fujifilm X100VI, but I kind of hope the launch will drive down the price of the Fujifilm X100V and Fujifilm X100F because I think those cameras are a far better value for photographers especially if it is your second, third, etc… camera. I can’t wait for the X Summit on February 20th.

Meike 55mm f/1.4 Auto Focus STM Update With Price

Only available for 1199! Unboxing the new Meike AF55mm f/1.4 Fuji X mount autofocus lens, the full-frame equivalent viewing angle is about 82.5mm, the minimum focusing distance is 0.61m, 52mm filter interface, weighs about 288 grams, and has Fuji X, Sony E, Nikon Z and Nikon R mounts.

Fujinon XF16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR Emergency Firmware 1.31 Released

The Fujinon XF16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR recently received a firmware update to address “Exposure tracking during zoom operation is improved when using the following cameras.” that Fujifilm removed and has now rereleased as emergency firmware 1.31 which you can download here.

In Ver. 1.30 released on January 22, 2024, it was confirmed that the exposure of images taken with certain focal length and aperture value combinations became abnormal.
For this reason, the firmware download has been suspended.
We are preparing an emergency firmware for customers who have updated to Ver. 1.30, so please wait for it.
