Fujifilm continues to do its best at avoiding price hikes due to tariffs, including moving production of multiple cameras lines from China to Japan to to mitigate the burden of tariffs on this generation of cameras, but now photorumors is reporting that a 15% Trump tariff will be implemented against Japan instead of the 25% tarrif that was origionally anticipated.
Fujifilm might continue doing us all a solid by eating the tariff or figuring out another creative way to not raise prices, but at this point, it seems inevitable that price increases will come to Fujifilm’s entire lineup of cameras. Consumers should keep in mind that tarrifs in the US are not calculated based on the final selling price, but rather on the import invoice/declared value price. Below are the cameras made in Japan that will be impacted by the tarrifs going foward, which will include some lenses.
