Interview: Fujifilm X100VI Launch and Shortages Explained

The Fujifilm X100VI has been a hot seller and will likely be hard to find for quite some time to come. Sonder Creative just posted an interview with a Fujifilm representative about the launch and production of the X100VI, which you can watch above or read a summary of below:

  • At launch, they started doing 15k cameras a month, but they are working on increasing production capacity which will take 4 to 5 months but they don’t know how much more they will make
  • The X100VI was double the production of the X100V
  • The X-T30 and X-T5 also enjoyed increase popularity thanks to the X100
  • People who preordered on launch day largely received their cameras, but there are many on-order
  • The X100 was launched in March 2010 so it is well-established and the camera appeals to a huge audience from amateurs to professionals
  • The X100 is designed so that you can’t tell the difference between the 6 X100 cameras from 3 meters
  • The look of the camera and the look the camera can produce are critical to the success of the X100
  • Fujifilm has a 90 year history of knowing how a photo should look and it benefits them
