Laowa 19mm f/2.8 Zero-D GFX:
Venus Optics / B&H Photo / Adorama

The Laowa 19mm f/2.8 Zero-D for GFX was announced at the end of last year and generally. DPRTV posted their review, which you can watch above or check out excerpts from the review below:

  • Fully metal construction
  • Super smooth focus ring with a nice clicky aperture ring
  • Great for doing hyper-focal focusing
  • 77mm filter threat
  • Comes with a metal hood
  • 550g, it is quite compact and lightweight for what it is
  • Fully mechanical lens
  • No electrical contacts
  • Very low distortion, so minimal if any correction needs to be done after
  • 18cm is the close focus distance, so 1:5 magnification
  • Bokeh has nice smooth transitions when things are out of focus
  • 5 bladed aperture
  • Round bokeh balls, but when you stop down, you get pentagons
  • Quite dramatic sunstars even at f/8
  • No major loss of contrast
  • Lots of ghosting
  • The center and corners improve as you stop down to f/5.6, but f/8 and f/11 are pretty ideal
  • Upclose there is almost a bullseye pattern of sharpness
  • The 100MP sensor might want a little too much from the sample they used, but it is great on the 50MP sensor
  • A great option if you only shoot this wide occasionally otherwise, go for the Fujinon 20-35mm or Fujinon 23mm
