Fujifilm Embracing Blockchain For Production in 2023

Newswitch Japan is reporting that Fujifilm started experimenting with blockchain technology with partners in FY2009, but that they now have plans to manage digital camera parts with it starting in 2023. This change will provide clarity, transparency, and provide overall optimization of Fujifilm’s supply chain.

The change will reduce the risks that natural disasters and international affairs cause by making inventory availability and delivery clearer in real-time, which will allow for better forecasting so that shortages and excesses do not occur. Blockchain also prevents fraud and inaccurate data from being written to the ledger. These features will allow orders and production to be more closely correlated and lead to a shorter supply chain that more closely reflects demand.

Fujifilm developed its own “Digital Trust Platform” using research from Fujifilm’s Informatics Laboratory Kaisei Town, Kanagawa Prefecture and if full-scale deployment goes well Fujifilm will consider expanding the use of its new blockchain system.
