DPRTV thinks the new Fujinon GF50mm f/3.5 LM WR should be called a muffin instead of a pancake. Below are excerpts from their review using the Fujifilm GFX50R.
- Smallest lightest lens for GFX
- Buttery smooth focus ring that’s easy to use
- Fast new linear motor and it’s very fast on the GFX100
- Not a traditional pancake
- Fairly complicated formula for a pancake
- Very Sharp
- Sharp corners
- Minimal breathing
- Easily handles the GFX100
- Like a 40mm f/2.8
- If you hate equivalency contact Tony Northrup on IG (LOL)
- Good performance wide open
- LoCA is well controlled and minor
- Pleasing Bokeh that is nice and round, but a little hard and has darker edges
- A little short for portraits
- 63mm is probably a better choice for portraits, but the 110mm is the best
- Lots of resolution to crop
- 63mm vs 50mm – the 63mm is a stop faster and about a stop more expensive so you can save money with the 50mm
- A little too close to a 35mm for Chris’ liking
